Erickson makes it two, as Dobmeier seems unbeatable.

The
Premier Racing Series continued last Friday with a new face
in Rydell Victory Lane while
Dobmeier continues his dominance. Snare and Erickson
both added another feature win to their resume also. On a
night sponsored by Custom Aire and Hugos, a total of eighty
teams arrived through the back gate to try and add points to
their total one week before midseason championship night
next week.
In the
Unicel Street Stock division Joe Potter won the first heat
race from the outside starting spot holding off Snare and
Olson. Rick Beier challenged Jeremy Grochowski for the lead
throughout the second heat race, but was unable to pass him.
Geringer followed Beier across the line for third. Dave
Wittner used the pole position to his advantage and won the
third heat race over Fugleberg.
The
first heat race for the Dempsey Trick Service Midwest
Modifieds was won by polesitter, Matt Sparby with Ryan
Restad following him across the line from the fourth
starting spot. Dyrdahl was racing Restad, but slipped back
and then made some progress forward to finish third. Dustin
Ness was second until he was passed late in the race by
Restad and Dyrdahl. Joe Freeman grabbed the lead from the
outside pole spot to win the second heat race followed by
polesitter Dale Kraling. Strand
finished third after starting sixth. Contact between Strem
and another car forced Strem out of the third heat race with
Riopelle holding off Broden for the win. Ryan Schroeder
finished third after starting fifth.
There
were two DTRA Late Model heats ran and Steve Anderson won
the first Atek Parts heat race from the pole position.
Pederson came from the fourth spot to finish second and Troy
Olson came from the fifth spot to finishe third. Mike
Balcaen used the outside pole position to grab the lead
during the second heat race with Brad Seng racing forward
from the tailend to finish second. Dustin Hapka started on
the pole and finished third.
Eide
Motors Sprint car heat races were next with Lou Kennedy Jr
racing forward to grab the lead and the win from the third
starting spot. Bob Martin was second after starting fifth
and Chris Shirek finished third coming from the back row.
Mark Dobmeier rocketed forward from the eighth starting spot
to take the lead from Nick Shirek and win the second heat
race. Wade Nygaard passed Shirek later in the race to
finishe second to Dobmeier with Shirek third.
The
Unicel Street Stock feature was the first event after a
brief intermission. Snare and Geringer led the field around
to the green flag. Snare was able to grab the lead first
with Geringer second. Beier, Potter, and Leake raced hard
for the third spot, but it was Beier that would secure that
spot. With eight laps to go, Snare continued to lead with
Geringer in tow. The second and last caution came out for
debris with just four laps to go. Snare was able to hold off
Geringer for his fourth consecutive win at River Cities
Speedway. The only change in the running order was Olson who
snuck past Leake in the final laps, otherwise Beier was
third and Potter was fourth.
The
Midwest Modified feature race was next on the schedule of
events, sponsored by Dempsey Truck Service. Eighteen laps
were up on the scoreboard with Freeman and Dustin Ness on
the front row to bring the field to the green flag. In a
feature filled with cautions and one red flag, Freeman was
able to hold off James SanGrait on multiple restarts to
claim his first win this year at River Cities Speedway.
After a total of nine cautions and with three laps
remaining, SanGrait tried a little too hard to get by
Freeman and lost some ground allowing last weeks feature
winner, Bryan LePier to get past him to finish in the second
spot. SanGrait finished third with Dustin Ness fourth and
Dale Kraling added a top five finish after starting twelfth.
Twenty
laps were added to the Bergstrom Electric scoreboard for the
Atek Parts DTRA Late Model feature event. Pederson and
Anderson started on the front row with Amundson and Hapka in
the second row. On the first lap Pederson led the field with Anderson second. Contact
between Anderson
and Pederson forced Pederson to retire as he came to the
flagstad to complete the first lap. The race continued with
no yellow as Doyle Erickson moved up to the second spot to
challenge Anderson.
Balcaen came from the seventh spot to secure third as
Amundson slipped back a spot. Cody Skytland moved into the
fifth spot with Seng directly behind him. The first caution
came out when Schill lost a tire. That was just after Doyle
Erickson passed
Anderson
for the lead using the high side of the track to take over
the lead. Just before the restart, Balcaen had track
officials look over his right front and decided to pull off.
Under green again, Erickson continued to lead, but the
yellow flag flew and was charged to Seng whom officials
thought had spun Skytland coming out of turn four. Skytland
had hit a rutt and got sideways with Seng right behind him.
With just four laps to go, Skytland moved past Anderson for the second
spot with Erickson still in control of the race. Caution
three came out for contact between Corcoran and Hapka.
Officials sent Corcoran to the tail for that last caution
and restarted the field. Erickson took the checkered flag
with Skytland in tow. Anderson and SanGrait finished just
ahead of Turk who finished fifth after starting tailend.
The
twenty-five lap Eide Motors NOSA Sprints were the last to
take to the track with Wilde and Monson on the front row to
lead the field to the green flag. It wasn’t long before
eighth place starter Mark Dobmeier found his way to the
front. Kennedy had a tire issue and pulled to the infield in
the first lap or so. Nygaard followed Dobmeier as they came
up on lap traffic with four laps complete. On the next lap
Martin passed Monson for the third spot and Chris Shirek
passed Sobczak for the sixth spot. Monson slipped back a
couple spots, but when Shirek passed him, it seemed as if he
started gaining some more ground. Martin had just passed
Nygaard for the second spot as Shirek moved up to the fourth
spot with Linnell and Sobczak racing for the fifth spot. Not
a lap later, the caution flag flew for Martin who had rolled
over in turn two. This gave the second spot back to Nygaard
with Shirek third. After the green flag was shown to the
field once more, Sobczak and Monson mixed it up adding
Linnell also in the closing laps. Dobmeier continued to lead
and put lap cars in between he and Nygaard. Linnell, Sobczak
and Monson made it a race to the checkered with Linnell
grabbing the fourth spot just behind Shirek. Monson chalked
up another top five finish with Sobczak just outside the top
five.
