River
Cities
Speedway
falls to inclement weather
By Mike Orness
The Premier Racing Series at River
Cities Speedway was cancelled due to rain and bad weather
just an hour and a half before hotlaps were to begin. The
night was to be sponsored by Hansen Cycle & Marine, Auto
Finance
Super Center,
and 5-Star Collision Center.
Going into the night, Mark Dobmeier
held a 87 point lead over Bob Martin in the Outlaw Sprint
division sponsored by Eide Motors. Lou Kennedy Jr and Casey
Mack sit just 17 points behind Martin. Wade Nygaard is in
fifth place, 124 points behind Dobmeier. With Dobmeier
entering the Knoxville Nationals, this would have been the
week to close that margin, but mother nature wouldn’t allow
it.
The DTRA Super Late Models sponsored by
Atekparts.com have a close points race with Mike Balcaen in
the lead and Brad Seng just 36 points behind. Balcaen can
not miss a race in order to keep that margin. Joey Pederson
is third, just four points behind Seng. Doyle Erickson and
Cody Skytland are fourth and fifth, but will be looking to
gain a spot towards the end of the season.
Dustin Strand holds a 87 point lead
over James SanGrait in the DTRA/MDRA Midwest Modified class
sponsored by Dempsey Truck Service of Grand Forks. Bryan
LePier and Dave Riopelle are tied at the moment according to
the River Cities Speedway website. Ryan Schroeder sits in
fifth place, 137 points away from
Strand.
The MDRA/DTRA Street Stock points race
have Steffen Snare in the lead over Jim Geringer by only 12
points. Dave Wittner is third with Kyle Leake and Joe Potter
in the top five. The Street Stocks are sponsored by Unicel.
The Gold Cup Sprint Car Challenge will
be August 17th at River Cities Speedway with all
other classes running also. The nights race will be
sponsored by Bergstrom Electric and Artic Cat.
