4th
Annual Seitz Memorial Update |
|
Prepared by: FYE Motorsports
The 4th
annual John Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational is
rapidly approaching at the highly competitive River Cities
Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The event, entering
its fourth season, will kick off with an open practice
session on Thursday, September 9th from 7p-10p
and a post-practice get together planned afterword.
The
racing program will then begin on Friday, September 10th
with action for the WISSOTA Late Models, WISSOTA Midwest
Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks and a bonus feature for the
NOSA Outlaw Sprint Cars. Friday’s program will feature heat
races and the $920 to win Go Hard or Go Home pole dash for
the Late Models, plus a complete program (heat races,
semi-features and feature) for both the Midwest Modifieds
and Street Stocks, plus fans will be treated to a feature
for the NOSA 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars on Friday night to round
out the intense action on night one of the weekend. The
Sprint feature was recently added to the Friday night
portion of the program due to the Sprint feature being
rained out back on July 9th so Sprint fans will
be treated to the winged warriors both nights during this
year’s Seitz Memorial weekend.
Saturday’s program will feature b-features and the now
92-lap $9,200 to win feature event for the Late Models plus
another complete program for the Midwest Modifieds and
Street Stocks plus a complete show for the NOSA Sprints.
More than 60 of the Midwest’s best Late Model competitors
from upwards of 5 states and several Canadian provinces,
including the three previous champions, (Mitch Johnson,
Justin Fegers and Pat Doar) are all expected to be in
attendance to compete for the never-seen-before purse and
the prestige of winning the John Seitz Memorial! In
addition, River Cities point leader Brad Seng and a host of
local competitors will be looking to ‘defend their home
turf’ from the travelers to try to keep the $9,200 in the
Grand Forks area once the memorial weekend’s event is
completed.
Both
nights the racing action will kick off at 7:30pm and are
sponsored in part by Valley Oral & Facial Surgery, Shaw
Trucking Inc., S & S Transport, North Dakota Eye Clinic,
Northern Plumbing, Wes’ Plumbing & Heating, Right Choice
Electric and 71 Bar. This event has been ultra-successful
over the first three seasons and fans will want to make sure
to be in Grand Forks for the fourth running of the event on
Friday and Saturday, September 10th & 11th.
Tons of contingency awards will be
provided in all divisions throughout the course of the
weekend by some great sponsors. Details will be announced at
a later date. Log onto

4th Annual John Seitz Memorial Late Model
Invitational |
|
Exciting
Changes to Seitz Memorial Event at River Cities
For
Immediate Release: Grand Forks, North Dakota – March 15th
2010
When fans and drivers flock to the
River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota for the 4th
annual John Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational in early
September of this year, they will notice several sizeable
changes to this year’s event, which should enhance the
overall experience for the thousands of loyal fans as well
as the group of hearty drivers that compete for the
prestigious invitational win each year.
The first change that fans and drivers
will notice is that Chris Stepan and his promotions company
FYE Motorsports have taken over the marketing and promotions
aspects of the event. Stepan has served as the event
announcer of the three previous Seitz Memorial Events and
served as the race director during the ’09 event. Chris will
serve both as the race director and announcer for the 4th
annual event as well, but in addition will handle the
promotions and advertising duties as well.
Secondly, Stepan, along with the staff
and management of the River Cities Speedway, has decided to
shake things up a bit when it comes to the Late Model
portion of the weekend. The event has always paid a whopping
$9,200 to win, so to justifiably live up to John Seitz’ #92
that he ran throughout his entire career, the 2010 edition
of the Seitz Memorial will now pay $920 just to start the
a-main, an increase from the $500 that the event has paid
during the first three seasons!
And a final change to the event will
see the Late Model drivers racing for a season-long 92-laps
in the main event, a change from the previous years where
the event has been 50 laps. Stepan said of the changes, ‘The
John Seitz Memorial should be $9,200 to win, but it should
also be $920 to start and 92 laps. I am very thankful that
Josh (Hills) and the ownership group at River Cities agree
with me on these things and I truly think these changes will
make this event the premier event that it is meant to be!’
One year ago, New Richmond, Wisconsin’s
Pat Doar led all 50 non-stop laps, lapping up to the 8th
place car in a very exciting race in and out of lapped
traffic on the 1/4mile bullring. 2008 saw Mound, Minnesota’s
Justin Fegers win a thriller and Hickson, North Dakota’s
Mitch Johnson won the inaugural title back in 2007.
Hills was quoted as saying ‘The first
three years this race had been great in memory of John, but
with these few changes, the weekend should really be
something special now. Hopefully we can get 60 or more cars
here and can put on a show for the fans, who normally don’t
get to see races over 50-laps in this area.’
The 4th edition of the John
Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational is set to take place
on Friday and Saturday, September 10th and 11th
2010 with an open practice set for Thursday night, September
9th from 7pm to 10pm with a post-practice party
set to kick off shortly after 10pm.
Friday night, September 10th
will see action kick off at 7:30pm and will feature a
complete $500 to win program for the WISSOTA Midwest
Modifieds; a separate $500 to win complete program for the
WISSOTA Street Stocks along with heat races and the Go Hard
Or Go Home Pole Dash for the WISSOTA Late Models, paying
$920 to the winner and lining up the first few rows of
Saturday’s main event.
Saturday night, September 11th
will then see action get underway at 7:00pm with another
complete $500 to win event for the WISSOTA Street Stocks and
a second complete $500 to win show for the WISSOTA Midwest
Modifieds. The WISSOTA Late Models will run their b-features
and the 92-lap, $9,200 to win John Seitz Memorial
Invitational a-main. A complete program for the NOSA 410
Outlaw Sprint Cars will be on tap on Saturday night as well.
Sunday, September 12th will
be reserved as an inclement weather day if necessary.
Additionally, the Street Stocks and
Midwest Modifieds will be racing for a point fund after the
2-day event, with the top five in the combined 2-day point
standings in each division taking home some extra cash for
their efforts. The Street Stock and Midwest Modified entry
fee will be $60 each day or $100 for the weekend.
Thanks to the following event sponsors
for making the 4th annual John Seitz Memorial a
reality: Valley Oral & Facial Surgery, Shaw Trucking, S & S
Transport, Right Choice Electric, North Dakota Eye Clinic,

3rd Annual $9,200 to win
John Seitz Memorial Late Model
Invitational |
|

For the third year in a row in early September,
Late Model drivers in the upper Midwest will be vying for a
very stout $9,200 to win paycheck at the River Cities
Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota as the 3rd
annual John Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational is held
in honor of Bemidji, Minnesota Late Model pilot John Seitz
who suddenly passed away in February of 2007 while on a
snowmobile trip in Idaho.
The Seitz family, Seitz Crew Chief Josh Hills, River Cities
Speedway Promoter Darren Evavold, Seitz best friend and
sponsor Don Shaw and FYE Motorsports Owner Chris Stepan
continue to work hard to make this event a truly special
event in honor of a great man and great competitor. This
year will be even bigger and better as a few slight changes
have been made to make the overall weekend even better!
The 3rd running of the Memorial will take place
on Friday and Saturday, September 11th and 12th
with a rain date on Sunday, September 13th if
necessary. This event has previously been run on Thursday
and Friday nights, but the event’s organizers feel that
moving it to a Friday and Saturday is a move in the right
direction so that fans and drivers alike do not have to
worry about taking off work 2 days to get to the event. This
way, folks can work all week and travel to Grand Forks on Friday instead of on Thursday
as they have in the past.
Due to the fact that the event has been moved to
Friday and Saturday, the event’s organizers have decided to
run an open practice on Thursday night, September 10th
from 6pm-10pm. This practice session will allow traveling
teams that choose to come to the River City
early for the event, the opportunity to turn some laps on
the track and get their set up just right for the weekend’s
action. This practice session will be open to any and all
competitors in all classes. A post practice party is also
planned after practice concludes at 10pm. More details will
be announced shortly.
WISSOTA Late Models will run all of their heat races and
pole dash on Friday night, while WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds
and WISSOTA Street Stocks will also compete in a complete
show on Friday night. Saturday night will then feature
another complete show for the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds,
WISSOTA Street Stocks, and a complete program of NOSA Sprint
Cars will also thrill the fans on Saturday night plus the
b-features and 50-lap, $9,200 to win WISSOTA Late Model main
event.
Hickson,
ND
veteran Mitch Johnson raced to the first annual Memorial
championship, while Mound, MN racer Justin Fegers capped off
a thrilling 50-lap event last season to win the 2nd
annual title. Over 50 of the Midwest’s best Late Models are
expected to converge in
Grand Forks
for one of the biggest paydays of the season. This event is
more than just a race, it is an event to celebrate and
remember the life of a great competitor and great guy, which
is why it has turned into such a tremendously successful
event.
Action will get underway both Friday and Saturday
nights at 7:30pm. For more information on this event as the
date grows closer feel free to check out

Mitch Johnson Seeks Defense of
Seitz Memorial
Prepared By Chris Stepan ~ FYE Motorsports
Promotions (July 28th
2008 – St. Cloud, MN)
The second
annual $9,200 to win John Seitz Memorial Late Model
Invitational is set to take place once again at John’s home
track, the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota
on Thursday and Friday, September 4th & 5th
2008.
The inaugural
event drew a stellar field of 57 Late Models and Hickson, North Dakota
Late Model veteran Mitch Johnson took home the honors of
being the first Seitz Memorial Champion. Mitch will be back
to defend his title, along with an expected field of over 50
of the best Late Model pilots in the Midwest to be on hand
for competition. Johnson will be locked into the event as
the inaugural champion and will be guaranteed a provisional.
If Johnson qualifies on his own for the 50-lap feature, the
highest finishing driver from last year’s event will be
locked into the a-main as the provisional starter.
This event
became an instant classic after Bemidji, Minnesota Late Model pilot John Seitz suddenly and
tragically passed away in February of 2007 while on a
snowmobile trip in
Idaho, and the
event basically took the place of the already successful
Harvest Bowl Nationals and be held at the River Cities
Speedway. The second annual event will continue to pay the
winner a whopping $9,200 to commemorate Seitz’s #92 car
number.
The Seitz family, Seitz Crew Chief
Josh Hills, River Cities Speedway Promoter Darren Evavold,
Seitz best friend and sponsor Don Shaw and FYE Motorsports
Owner Chris Stepan worked hard last year to get this event
put together and it turned out to be an amazing success for
all involved. This year, the event will stick closely to the
same format at the 1st annual event, but will see
a few small changes to make the event even bigger and
better.
In 2007, when asked about his role in
getting this event put together, Hills said “We need to make
this event a big deal because that's what John would want us
to do to make the sport of racing grow in the Upper
Midwest. Large races like this bring race fans and race
teams together to have fun and that's why we race is to have
fun and make friends.” The event certainly was an instant
‘big deal’ and will be again in 2008 as more and more fans
and drivers are expected to converge on River Cities for the
second annual event.
In 2007, the event was sanctioned by
the DTRA, but in ’08 this event will be a headlining WISSOTA
Late Model event. The Late Models will run all of their heat
races and pole dash on Thursday night, while the WISSOTA
Midwest Modifieds and DTRA/MDRA Street Stocks will also
compete in a complete show on Thursday night. Friday night
will then feature another complete show for the WISSOTA
Midwest Modifieds, DTRA/MDRA Street Stocks, and a complete
program of NOSA Sprint Cars will also thrill the fans on
Friday night plus the b-features and 50-lap, $9,200 to win
WISSOTA Late Model main event.
There has also
been a point fund put together to be paid out to the drivers
that have the four highest combined point totals over the
2-day show in both the Midwest Modified and Street Stock
division as well.
When Shaw was asked what he thought
about this event he commented “To put it in John’s
words….’Do it for the fans, do it for the sport and do it
because you love it!’ John’s motto was always ‘Go Hard Or Go
Home’, so this race should be an incredible event to
remember and honor someone who was like a brother to me.”
The 2008 event’s pole dash has been changed a bit from the
’07 event and will be dubbed as the “Go Hard Or Go Home Pole
Dash” and will feature the to 16 drivers in overall passing
points after the heat races. The drivers will redraw in
groups for their starting position in the dash and how the
dash finishes is how the Friday night feature will start.
This year, the dash will pay the top five finishers as well.
Stepan commented “John was a great
driver on the track, a driver that I sponsored and was proud
to help in any way I could and most importantly a great
friend of mine, so it is an honor to be a part of this
event.” Chris also stated “I hope this event turns into one
of the biggest events in all of the country because John
deserves his legacy to be remembered and he would love to
have this event be huge. Last year’s event was awesome and
this year’s should be just as great.”
When Evavold was asked about the
significance of this event, he said “River Cities was John’s
home track. He ran with us for most of his racing career on
Friday nights and he will be sorely missed. He was a class
act on and off the track and we are proud to be able to host
this event in his memory.”
Valley Oral and
Facial Surgery will be on board as the title sponsor for
this event with associate sponsorship from Shaw Trucking
Inc., Northern Plumbing Supply, S & S Transport, Wes’
Plumbing, North Dakota Eye Clinic and 71 Bar & Steak House.
After
the tremendous success of the first annual event, everyone
is looking forward to the second running of the John Seitz
Memorial. For more information on this event, feel free to

Only a few weeks after the shocking and very sad news
of Bemidji, Minnesota Late Model pilot John Seitz passing
away this past February while on a snowmobile trip in Idaho,
comes the news of the first John Seitz Memorial Late Model
Invitational, which will take the place of the already
successful Harvest Bowl Nationals and be held at the River
Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Thursday and
Friday, September 6th and 7th 2007,

The Seitz family,

Hills, River Cities

been working hard on getting this put together and the
details finalized so the announcement could be made that
this event will become a reality.
When asked about his role in getting this event put
together, Hills said “We need to make this event a big deal
because that's what John would want us to do to make the
sport of racing grow in the Upper Midwest. Large races like
this bring race fans and race teams together to have fun and

DTRA Late Models will run all of their heat races and

weather, a complete show will be ran on Friday. The Late Model car entry fee will be $100 on or before
August 15th and $125 after the 15th of
August. Exact details with start times, entry fees, sponsors
