With this Friday's extremely unfavorable forecast - including cold temps, wind, and 100% chance of rain - we have canceled the races for May 24th.
We hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend. We'll be back in action on Friday, May 31st for another night of Premier Racing Series action, featuring a Northern Late Model Racing Association tour race. Greg Jose and Matt Schow won at River Cities Speedway Friday night before the races came to an early end due to severe weather. Schow's win was his 22nd career Bullring victory while Jose broke a long dry spell, picking up his second career win in Grand Forks and first since August 30, 2013.

(May 15, 2024) - The 70th anniversary of weekly racing in Grand Forks has begun as River Cities Speedway roared back to life last Friday night with five classes on hand at the Bullring.
The evening started with the crowd and the entire pit area remembering those we lost over the offseason. Julie Pederson's family and friends honored her and were joined by Matt Jarvis as the group also paced around the track during the anthem in honor of Bruce Hart. Hank Albers, Don Mack, Tim Mulvaney, and Rick Noyes were also remembered before racing began. Congrats to our five drivers who visited Rydell Cars Victory Lane!

We are just a few short days from lifting the lid on the 2024 racing season which will be the 72nd of weekly racing action at the Greater Grand Forks Fairgrounds since the first season of weekly action in 1954. Here are some of the stories we're look at as we head out of the offseason: Buffalo Wild Wings Sprint Cars: ⦁ 410 Sprints will be on the card for 19 events at the Bullring in 2024. 17 of those events will be sanctioned by the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association with two of those co-sanctioned with the IRA Sprints during the 3rd Annual Buffalo Wild Wings 'King of the Wings.' ⦁ The 'Big Three' will be returning in the class, headed up by defending track champion Mark Dobmeier. Defending NOSA champ Jade Hastings and former series titleist Brendan Mullen will be the favorites at the start of the season as the trio have combined to win the last four NOSA championships ⦁ Alex Truscinski will head the rookie class in the division. The all-time wins leader with the Northern Lightning Sprint Association will move into the 410 class in 2024. ⦁ The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be back for two events again in 2024. June 7th will be the first Don Mack Classic. The series returns for their second visit on August 23rd. David Gravel and Donny Schatz are currently on top of the standings Cirrus Aircraft Late Models: ⦁ Late Models will be back for 15 shows in 2024 with four of those serving as Northern Late Model Racing Association points races and one appearance by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on June 28th. ⦁ Growth continues in the rapidly growing class as Tucker Pederson headlines the rookie class in the division. Travis Roberson is back with Midwest Mod veteran Nate Reynolds also joining the ranks ⦁ Dustin Strand, Brad Seng, and Joey Pederson finished as the top three in last season's standings and are set to reclaim those spots. Someone to look at for a breakout year is Brody Troftgruben. Campaigning a new Longhorn chassis, the racer enters his ninth season having put down some impressive laps in practice at Devils Lake two weeks ago. Happy Harry’s Midwest Mods: ⦁ The class returns for its 19th season with 13 regular season races ⦁ The top three are returning with Jory Berg, Austin Hunter, and Nate Raasakka ready to reclaim top three spots in the division ⦁ For the first time since the class was introduced in 2006, the division will have a female driver compete in the class weekly. MaKenna Romuld has moved over from the Forks Karting Speedway and is ready to compete in her Millenium Chassis. She's set to become the 53rd female driver in track history since 1982. Big Al’s Construction Street Stocks: ⦁ Street Stocks return for their 28th consecutive season since they were reintroduced to the nightly lineup in Grand Forks in 1997. ⦁ The Street Stocks are on the card for 12 regular season events in 2024. ⦁ For the second time in three seasons there's a guarantee of a new champion in the Street Stock division with last year's champ Tucker Pederson moving to Late Models. This opens the door for Weston Ramsrud and Seth Klostreich to battle for the title as well as 2019 class champion John Halvorson. Other things to look for: ⦁ Wissota Modifieds will be on the schedule for 6 regular season shows in 2024. Tyler Peterson and Dustin Strand were tops in the division in 2023 as they did double duty most nights while also running Late Models. ⦁ Lightning Sprints are back for nine appearances in 2024. That class will see some changes with both Alan and Alex Truscinski out of the division but Dexter Dvergsten's next victory at the track will tie him with Darren Pallen a top the all-time wins list with 16. ⦁ The IMCA Red River Sprint Series returns five times during their sophomore season of action. Two of those will be during all Sprint nights during the King of the Wings in July and the final two races in September. Their first event of the season will be June 14th. ⦁ The 18th Annual John Seitz Memorial returns Sept. 5th through 7th which will be capped by the 92-lap $9,200-to-win main event on Saturday the 7th. Other events will include the NLRA championship on Thursday the 5th, and the Al Delaine Memorial for Modifieds and the Street Stock Tour finale on Saturday's card as well. |
