The 70th regular season of racing action is in the books at the Bullring as five feature winners and three points champions were crowned in another exciting night at River Cities Speedway. Trey Hess won his first WISSOTA Street Stock championship before Austin Hunter won his third Midwest Modified title. Dustin Strand went on to win his seventh Late Model crown after winning his eight feature of the season. Trey Hess and Seth Klostreich brought the 20-lap Big Al's Construction WISSOTA Street Stock track championship to green. Hess led in the first set of turns while Weston Ramsrud moved into second past Klostreich.
Ramsrud then pulled even on lap two with Hess as the pair continued to battle door-to-door until the fifth lap when Ramsrud took the lead in turn two on lap six. Klostreich made contact with Hess in turn two with Hess spinning. Klostreich was charged with the caution and sent to the tail. On the restart, Cole Greseth moved past Hess into second and stalked Ramsrud as the lead duo pulled away from the rest of the pack. Greseth did to Ramsrud as Ramsrud did to Hess before the caution, pulling even on numerous occasions though Ramsrud held on to the lead through the midway point. With four to go, the leaders caught up to the end of the running order. Ramsrud made a few great moves in traffic to hold on to the lead and went on to the victory over Greseth, Hess, John Halvorson and Greg Jose. Hess clinched the points title with his third place run, the first of his career. Austin Hunter and Jamie Dietzler led the 20-lap Happy Harry’s WISSOTA Midwest Modified championship feature at the start of the race. Battling for the race win and the overall points championship, Dietzler led early with Hunter no more than a couple of car lengths back in the opening laps. Dietzler had just caught the rear of the field on lap ten when a caution saved him from having to maneuver through lap traffic. It took a couple tries to get the race restarted at the lap ten mark as track crews cleared debris. The first restart attempt was followed by a botched restart on the second attempt. The biggest mover at this point, however, was 16th starting MaKenna Romuld. Romuld, the WISSOTA National Midwest Modified Rookie of the Year point leader, went from 12th to 7th on the restart as Matt Schow moved past Hunter into second before another debris caution slowed the race one last time. Dietzler and Schow went on a mini break over the rest of the field while Hunter held off Lance Schil for the third spot. Dietzler held off a hard charging Matt Schow in the closing laps to win the feature by inches. Third place finishing Austin Hunter won the points title by one over Dietzler, the third of his career at the Bullring. Schill and Cylen Vargason were fourth and fifth. Jori Hughes and Nick Shirek brought the 20-lap Western Renegade Non-Wing Sprint feature to green. Following a land rush for position in the first set of corners to start the race, Shirek led the opening lap over Jack Berger and Chris Lewis. A second lap caution slowed the race early but when the race resumed Shirek continued to lead as Lewis and Berger battled for second. Lewis and Berger remained side-by-side for a number of laps which allowed Shirek to pull away until he started working lapped traffic, which allowed Berger to reel him back in on lap six. The second and final caution at the midway point cleared the way for the leaders as they were running through heavy lap traffic. Shirek jumped out to a ten car length advantage when the race resumed with Berger remaining second. With five to go, Shirek again started working traffic, which allowed Berger to close one more time. With Shirek’s lead completely erased at this point, Berger, with one last gasp effort on the cushion, came to within three-quarters of a car length from stealing the win at the line. Shirek won his second career WRSS feature at the speedway over Berger, Lewis, Eric Guyot, and Travis Case. Dustin Strand and Brad Seng paced the 20-laps Cirrus Aircraft WISSOTA Late Model Track Championship main event to the stripe to start the race. Strand led the opening lap over Seng and Joey Pederson. Strand was about a half a straight away ahead before he encountered heavy lap traffic on lap six. Strand split a pair of lapped cars on lap seven to open up an even further lead before a caution at the completion of the lap. Joey Pederson moved in the second when the race resumed though Strand, with clear race track in front of him, rebuilt his straight away advantage in the opening laps after the caution. Strand led through the midway point before again encountering traffic with eight to go. Strand nearly missed the entrance to turn one with four to go but was able to regroup without losing much ground. Strand continued on for his eighth Late Model victory at the speedway this season, clinching the track and points titles. Pederson, Seng, Shane Edginton, and Brody Troftgruben completed the top five. Bill Wagner and Alex Truscinski made up the front row for the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car feature when the race commenced. Coming three-wide off of turn four to complete the second lap, Wagner, Weston Olson and Jack Croaker ran out of real estate, causing Olson to go for a violent tumble down the front stretch. Olson quickly hopped out of his car, though his and Wagner's nights were over. Truscinski, a Sprint Car rookie in 2024, led on the restart and led by ten car lengths over series point leader Jade Hastings. Truscinski spun in turn three on lap seven to bring out the caution while leading which gave Hastings the lead on the ensuing restart. Hastings held off Nick Omdahl on the restart and built a considerable lead as he had in previous weeks in the pair of laps following the caution. Hastings remained the leader until the penultimate caution with nine to go, though as he rolled around the quarter-mile under caution, smoke started to fall from underneath his car. When the green flag flew once more, Hastings made it only one more lap before he brought out the final caution of the race, saving his engine from complete failure, but ending his evening early. Omdahl restarted the race as the leader and after Jack Croaker held off a hard charging Blake Egeland on the restart, Croaker, who was looking for his first Sprint Car victory, Stalked Omdahl in the closing laps. Croaker came up just short in the closing laps as Omdahl went on to win his second feature of the year. Egeland, Colton Young, and Jordan Graham rounded out the top five. Racing action continues next week as the 18th Annual John Seitz Memorial kicks off Thursday with the re-scheduled running of the Howie Schill Memorial Thursday night. Friday and Saturday will be highlighted by the Street Stock Tour finale, The Al Delaine Memorial, and the 92-lap, $9,200-to-win John Seitz Memorial.
