Schow and Greseth Win Third Features of the Season; Taves Wins Lightning Sprints Racing in front of the Greater Grand Forks Fair beat the weather as Ferris Wheels spun beneath ominous clouds last Friday night at the Bullring. Beating the weather and their fellow competitors were Weston Olson, who won his first career NOSA Sprint Car feature. Matthew Taves returned to RydellCars.com victory lane in the NLSA Lightning Sprints, while Matt Schow and Cole Greseth won their third features of the 2025 season. Adam Sobolik and Weston Olson brought the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint car feature to green at the start. Only three of the 17 drivers in Friday night's field had a previous career NOSA win, so chances were pretty good we were going to see a first-time winner at the Bullring. Olson got the bite off of turn two and led the opening lap. As Olson was approaching traffic for the first time at the beginning of the third lap, the first of multiple cautions slowed the race. The next seven circuits went caution free as Olson continued to lead while Jack Croaker stalked Sobolik for the second spot. Croaker took the second spot on the restart as Olson completed five more laps as the leader before the third caution. Olson put five more laps in the books as the leader before Croaker went for a tumble off of turns three and four. He was a bit shaken but okay. Olson put three more laps led in the books before another pair of cautions and the final red flag of the race with three to go for Blake Egeland who flipped in between turns three and four leading to a fuel stop. Egeland was also ok. Olsen held off Sobolik in the final three laps to score his first Sprint Car win. Alex Truscinski, Zach Omdahl, and Travis Strandell rounded out the top five. In the Happy Harry’s Midwest Mod main event, Jory Berg and 2024 National Rookie of the Year McKenna Romuld made up the front row at the beginning of the 20-lap feature. Romuld beat Berg back to the line to lead the opening lap, the first of her career at the Bullring. Berg came back on the inside on lap two and took the point back. Berg pulled away by ten car lengths just before the midway point as Austin Hunter and Matt Schow went side-by-side for third. With nine to go, Schow had cleared Hunter and executed a perfect slider on Romuld to take the second spot. With four to go, Berg and Schow were dealing with lap traffic, allowing Schow to take the lead, becoming the third leader of the race. Schow led the final four laps and won by nearly two and a half seconds for his third Bullring victory of the year. Berg, Romuld, Hunter, and Nate Raasakka completed the top five in the green-to-checkered event. Dylan Langevin and Matthew Taves brought the 20-lap NLSA lightning Sprint feature to green. Taves led the opening lap as Langevin fought off Dexter Dvergsten for the second spot. Dvergsten went on to take the spot the following lap as taves pulled away by a straightaway. Taves got a great restart following a lap eight caution and rebuilt his near straightaway advantage near the midway point before the second and final caution of the race. The podium runners stayed closer together on the second restart of the race, however, as Dvergsten and Langevin stayed within striking distance of Taves. Taves caught lap traffic with three to go but was able to maneuver around the outside and pull away late to pick up the victory. Dvergsten, Langevin, Hayden Koemstedt, and Hunter Bugge rounded out the top five. Josh Barker and Shane Swenson led the 20-lap Big Al’s Construction Street Stock feature to green. Barker took the lead on the initial start as Weston Ramsrud went door-to-door with Swenson for second. Following a lap two caution, Ramsrud took the second spot as Greg Jose, Scotty Messner and went three-wide for third with Swenson. Barker slipped off the bottom of turn two on lap eight, allowing Ramsrud to go side-by-side for the top spot with Ramsrud taking the point the following lap. From there, it was the Cole Greseth show as he began to slice his way through the top five, moving to the runner-up spot just past the halfway point. Greseth went door-to-door with Ramsrud coming to the four to go mark and took the lead down the back stretch to become the third leader of the race. He led the final four circuits to pick up his third win at the bullring in 2025. Ramsrud, Jose, Messner, and John Halvorson were the rest of the top five. The WISSOTA Midwest Mods and Street Stocks will be back in action next Friday night as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes their annual trip to Grand Forks. Full ResultsNOSA Sprints
