GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 2) – River Cities Speedway staff, drivers and fans remembered Street Stock and Late Model driver Nick Minske during pre-race ceremonies on Tuesday night. Minske, who competed at River Cities weekly for over a decade, passed away June 21st after succumbing to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Following the national anthems, Mark Dobmeier took Minske’s Late Model around the track with a few hundred drivers and crew members surrounding the embankment in turns one and two. It was an action-packed night of feature action with Mark Dobmeier, Nick Omdahl, Dustin Wahl, Dustin Strand, Matt Schow and Braden Brauer all visiting RydellCars.com Victory Lane. Mark Dobmeier won the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA feature after a great race-long battle with Brendan Mullen. Both drivers started on the front row with Dobmeier taking the lead first before Mullen grabbed the point with a textbook slider in turn two on lap eight. Mullen went on to lead the most laps of the 26-lapper, 14, but it wasn't enough to get his first River Cities since last September. Dobmeier reclaimed the lead with a slide job of his own with five to go and went on to his 189th career NOSA win and fifth of 2024. Dustin Wahl raced to a big lead in the WISSOTA Modified feature and held off a hard charging Dustin Strand by 1.7 seconds at the checkers. Sixth starting Strand moved into second with 12 to go and had a 2.8-second deficit to Wahl, but ate into his lead lap after lap. Wahl was too fast, however, and went on to pick up his first win at River Cities since he swept Hornet action in September of 2004. Last year's WISSOTA Street Stock national runner-up, Braden Brauer, dominated the 21-lap Big Al's Construction Street Stock feature. Greg Jose led early but his night ended early after he was spun in turn four, collecting Seth Klostreich. Klostreich was able to continue. Brauer inherited the lead for the Evergreen Insurance restart and never looked back, picking up the win by over five seconds over Sunday night's winner Trey Hess. The win was the fourth for the driver who traveled 6-and-a-half hours to River Cities Speedway from Eyota, Minnesota. Matt Schow ran unchallenged to the Happy Harry's Midwest Modified win. It was his second of the season at the Bullring. Dustin Strand was untouchable in the Cirrus Aircraft WISSOTA Late Model feature. The East Grand Forks, Minnesota driver took the lead from seventh on lap eight and proved he was the class of the field. Strand held a 4.3 second lead until a yellow flew with four to go. The restart posed no threat for the four-time NLRA Late Model champion as he cruised to the checkers. West Fargo’s Amelia Eisenschenk started on the pole and scored her career-best Late Model finish in fourth. Brad Seng, early race leader Shane Edginton, Eisenschenk and Brody Troftgruben rounded out the top five. Jordan Graham and Zach Omdahl were set to bring the May 17th make-up feature for the NOSA Sprints to green to end Tuesday's action but during warm-up laps for the race, Mark Dobmeier went for a tumble in turn three. While the track was being repaired, Dobmeier and crew were able to make repairs to the No. 13 and return to start at the rear of the field. It was apparent from the outset, however, that the damage wasn't completely removed from the car as Dobmeier was only able to climb back to eighth. Up from it was Zach Omdahl setting a torrid pace early both before and after Jack Croaker also got upside-down on the second lap in the third turn. At the midway point, Nick Omdahl reeled-in his cousin Zach to battle for the lead. Nick Omdahl took the point off turn four coming to 12 to go. Jade Hastings and Brendan Mullen battled for the third spot as Nick Omdahl began to pull away from the field. The final 24 laps went green-to-checkered with Nick Omdahl winning for the first time at River Cities since July 22, 2022. Hastings, Mullen, Zach Omdahl, and Jordan Graham. Racing action continues on Friday night, July 12th, as the Premier Racing Series will be joined by the NLSA Lightning Sprints with a start time of seven o'clock.
