For just the third time this season fans saw a night of racing at the Bullring completed before a rainout... for the most part. The first night of the Greater Grand Forks Fair races once again had to go into 'hurry-up' mode as mother nature had plans of her own. When all was said and done, Lance Schill and Mark Dobmeier beat their fellow competitors and the rain to score wins on Friday night though the night ended before the make-up Happy Harry's Midwest Mod feature could be completed. Mark Dobmeier and fastest qualifier Gage Pulkrabek started on the front row of the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint feature. Dobmeier took the lead at the start as Zach Omdahl moved into third.
Dobmeier was already in traffic just two laps into the race but continued to set a torrid pace out front. Dobmeier had a trio of lapped cars in front of him, but a lap eight caution cleared the traffic for the leader. A great restart for Dobmeier saw him continue to lead until the second caution of the race two laps later. A better restart for Pulkrabek saw him close in on Dobmeier for the lead but Dobmeier was again able to pull away as they started working traffic again. Caution number three at the midway point saw Dobmeier again pull away, this time by nearly a straightaway. With seven laps to go, the leaders had lapped nearly into the top ten but Pulkrabek had reeled Dobmeier back in to try and take the lead. In turn one Pulkrabek got loose trying to make the pass for the lead and spun to a stop. With five to go Pulkrabek hit an infield tire bringing his night to an end. The final restart saw Dobmeier continue to pull away on restarts as he left Zach and Nick Omdahl to battle for second. Dobmeier led flag to flag winning his second feature of the season over Zach and Nick Omdahl, The Rebel Mod Tour made their way to Grand Forks after Thursday night's event at Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN. Jamie Dietzler and Taylor Jacobson led the 25-lap Happy Harry's WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature to green. Dietzler led the opening lap as Jory Berg and Hunter Hougard moved into second and third respectively. The weather played a factor early as the field fought through sprinkles to try and get the race completed. Between early cautions, Lance Schill was able to climb to second and challenge Dietzler for the lead. Dietzler and Schill had pulled away by a half straightaway by the midway point, but Berg and Matt Schow began to reel in the leaders as they approached traffic with ten circuits showing on the scoreboard. With three to go Schow had taken third as he and Dietzler and Schill went three-wide in turn one for the lead before the final pair of cautions set up a three-lap shootout. The trio again went three-wide for the lead on the final restart with Schill coming out of it on top. Schill led the final three laps to win over Schow, Dietzler, Lucas Rodin, and Nate Reinke. Racing action continues Saturday night for the second night of Greater Grand Forks Fair action featuring the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints and the NLSA Lightning Sprints. 410 SPRINTS - WINGED A Feature 1 (25 Laps): 1. 13JT-Mark Dobmeier[1]; 2. 17-Zach Omdahl[3]; 3. 0-Nick Omdahl[8]; 4. 31-Wade Nygaard[5]; 5. 26-Blake Egeland[6]; 6. 8H-Jade Hastings[17]; 7. 8-Jack Croaker[11]; 8. 52-Adam Sobolik[13]; 9. 15-Laela Eisenschenk[12]; 10. 4-Colton Young[10]; 11. 2JR-Kelly Miller[15]; 12. 27-Weston Olson[7]; 13. 10S-Josh Swangler[18]; 14. 41T-Travis Strandell[20]; 15. 74N-Luke Nellis[4]; 16. 78-Bill Wagner[19]; 17. 50-Brad Flaten[22]; 18.
