Peterson Sweeps During Big Motor Mania at River Cities; Pake, Hunter and Greseth also Winners7/28/2025 River Cities Speedway concluded July with its annual Big Motor Mania event and a trio of winners returned to victory lane, headlined by another sweep by Tyler Peterson who won both the WISSOTA Late Model and Modified features. Austin Hunter won his third feature of the year while Cole Greseth remained dominant, winning his sixth WISSOTA Street Stock feature of the 2025 campaign. Jade Hastings and Andy Pake made up the front row of the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car feature. Hastings led through turns one and two, but it was Andy Pake using the top down the backstretch, taking the lead on the opening of the first of 20 consecutive green flag laps. Five laps into the race was when the leaders started working lap traffic, but they were able to continue to use the top of the race track while cycling through lap traffic. The traffic allowed Mark Dobmeier to reel in Hastings, taking the second spot with 16 to go. While the battle for second was taking place, Pake had built a lead of around two seconds in the laps around the midway point. Seventh starting Weston Olson moved into the third spot with ten to go and began to hunt down Dobmeier for second. It took Olson four laps of working on Dobmeier before he became the new runner-up the lap before the race’s only caution with six to go. Pake got a great restart and was leading again by nearly a second in the opening circuit following the caution. Pake again encountered traffic late, but he led the final six laps to score his first bullring victory over Olson, Dobmeier, Hastings, and Nick Omdahl Yet another WISSOTA Late Model feature went flag-to-flag as the all 20-laps went caution free. Tyler Peterson and Shane Edginton made up the front row at the start and swapped the lead on the opening lap as Kelsi Pederson, a first-time heat winner earlier in the night, remained close in third. The second lap saw Dustin Strand move into a podium spot as Edginton led over Peterson. Edgington led into the midway point as the leaders started working lap traffic. Edginton had built a ten car length advantage at that point and appeared to be in control for his first victory of the season. With five to go, however, Edginton slowed on the backstretch due to a mechanical failure giving Peterson the lead. Peterson carried his ten car length advantage over Strand through the final five circuits to pick up his third Late Model victory at the Bullring this season over Strand, Tucker and Kelsi Pederson, and Jamie Trautner. Preston Carr and Ward Imrie led the WISSOTA Modified feature to green. Carr led by a nose at the end of the opening lap but the lead duo remained side-by-side for a number of laps before Imrie eventually started building a lead five laps into the race. Following a lap five caution, Imrie rebuilt his lead and continued to lead past the midway point. The final caution with seven to go saw Tyler Peterson move into second in turns one and two when the race resumed and into the lead at the end of the lap. Peterson and Imrie went three-wide with Aaron Holtan with six to go, though Peterson remained the leader with Holtan as the new runner-up. Peterson pulled away in the closing laps to win his second Modified feature of the year at the Bullring over Holtan, Dustin Wahl, Imrie and Jordan Duray. Cylen Vargason and Taylor Jacobson brought the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature to green. The only race of the night to be marred by a number of cautions, Vargason led the opening lap and led the race through the midway point. With eight to go, Vargason and Austin Hunter made contact and turn three, but it was Hunter that eventually took the lead and led enough of the lap to lead the field back to green following a caution that shortly after the pass. Taylor Jacobson followed Hunter into second with Jory Berg taking third before the final restart with five to go.Hunter pulled away in the closing stages of the race to win his third race at the Bullring this season. Jacobson, Berg, Brennan Schmidt, and Vargason rounded out the top five. Scott Messner and John Halvorson brought the WISSOTA Street Stock feature green. Messner took the early lead as Cole Greseth went side-by-side with Halvorson for the second spot, taking it down the backstretch, and moving in on Messner to battle for the lead at the end of the opening lap. Greseth led the second lap, but Messner stayed strong through the middle of the track and took the lead back at the conclusion of the third circuit. Messner continued to lead until the second and final caution at the midway point of the 20-lap race and continued to lead when the race resumed. With three to go, Greseth turned up the wick on his number 19 machine and went side-by-side once again with Messner for the lead and led the final two circuits to win his sixth feature at the Bullring in 2025. Halvorson, Seth Klostreich, and Chris Ekren rounded out the top five. Full ResultsWISSOTA Street Stock
