Peterson, Smith, and Anderson Also WinnersThe 19th running of the John Seitz Memorial is in the books and for the third consecutive running of the event, a new champion found RydellCars.com victory lane as Cole Schill led the final six laps to score the $9,200 victory. Tyler Peterson rebounded from a DNF in the Late Model feature to win the Modified feature while travellers Jake Smith and Parker Anderson won the Midwest Mod and Street Stock features respectively. Mike Greseth and Chad Becker made up the front row of the 27-car field for the 92-lap Cirrus Aircraft Late Model finale. They remained side-by-side until the exit of turn four when Becker got the run off the top to lead the opening lap. Cole Schill moved from third to second and began to chase down Becker, taking the lead on lap eight. Becker took the lead back, however, as the leaders started working lump traffic one lap later. This allowed AJ Diemel and Greseth to close back in, making it a four-car battle for the lead. Diemel moved to Schill’s inside as the leaders continued to work lap traffic, though SChill was able to keep second with Greseth taking the third spot back before the first pair of cautions came out on lap 18. Becker resumed the race as the leader with Schill in second and Tyler Peterson in third. There was just one more caution with 67 to go before the lap 32 fuel stop. Diemel moved past Peterson to take third as the final pass before the stoppage. When the race resumed, Diemel started making his move to the front as he searched for his fourth Seitz Memorial title, taking second from Schill on the restart. Becker led until another caution with 58 to go. Diemel took the lead on the restart, bringing Greseth and Schill with him in the second and third. Schill took second with 52 to go and began to track down Diemel for the lead. Schill caught Diemel with 47 to go and took the lead on the backstretch. Schill began to pull away as Diemel. pulled into the infield, ending his race two laps later. Schill had a lead of a second and a half erased when the longest green flag run of the race ended with 25 to go. This allowed Tyler Peterson and Chad Becker to challenge for the lead when the race went green again. Schill continued to lead following another caution of 21 to go. Four laps later, Peterson executed a slide job in turns three and four to become the new leader. Peterson held the lead through another pair of cautions with 15 to go and six to go, respectively, though Schill remained close in second and 22nd starting Dustin Strand who had moved into third. Schill took the lead back on the restart.with six to go and led another three laps over Peterson before the pair made contact at the flag stand sending Schill spinning off of the top of turn one. Peterson was charged with the caution and Schill resumed the race as the leader with Strand and Zach Johnson as the new second and third place runners. With two to go, Strand got too high in turns one and two and fell off the top of the track, ending his hopes for his first Seitz Memorial victory. Schill led the final pair of circuits around the Bullring to pick up his first Seitz Memorial title over Jesse Glenz, Zach Johnson, Shane Edginton, and Travis Robertson. Joseph Thomas and Mike Stearns led the 30-lap modified feature to green. Thomas was looking for redemption from running out of fuel the previous night while leading the Al Delaine Memorial. A four-car battle for second ensued on the third lap when Delaine Memorial winner on Friday night, Bryce Sward, moved to the inside of Stearns with Blake Adams and Tyler Peterson close behind rounding out the top five. Stearns held second until lap nine when Tyler Peterson became the new runner-up as the leaders started working traffic. Thomas got into a lap car on the front stretch on lap 13, bringing out the caution and ending his night early, giving Peterson the lead. Sward went door-to-door with Peterson on a few occasions in the laps following the caution, but at the 10 to go mark, Peterson started working traffic and built a lead of two seconds. Sward’s night also came to a premature end a few laps later, moving Blake Adams into second and Cayden Schmeling into third. The five to go mark saw Peterson with a six second lead and went on to win by seven seconds over Adams, Ward Imrie, Schmeling, and Jeff Davis. Dylan Zabel and Reise Stenberg led the 25-lap Happy Harry’s Midwest Mod championship at the start with Stenberg leading the opening lap as Jake Smith, Brandon Bahr, and Jory Berg battled for the third spot. The first caution on lap four saw a pile up in turn one involving Phil Christlieb, Connor Drewry, and Dean Eggebraaten. Christlieb was the only driver to not continue. Jory Berg took second on the restart with Landyn Randt and Zabel battling for third behind them. Berg took the lead briefly at the beginning of the eighth lap before he and Stenberg made contact sending the B4 into a spin. Randt and Jake Smith took second and third from Berg on the restart who fell out of the race two laps later. Following the third caution of the race with 17 to go, Randt moved to the inside of Stenberg and took the lead at the beginning of lap 11 and brought Smith with him into second. The top three went three-wide for the lead of the exit of two with 12 to go, though Randt remained the leader. Randt and Smith pulled away from the rest of the pack with five to go and went side-by-side for the lead for the first time on the next lap. The final caution in the race came out with three to go allowing Smith to run around the outside of Randt coming out of turn four, taking the lead with two to go. Smith led the final two laps and won over Randt, Stenberg, Matt Schow, and Zabel. Cole Greseth and Trey Hess brought the 25-lap Big Al’s Construction Street Stock Championship to green. Hunter Carter took second early. but his night ended on lap four, moving Hess to second and Parker Anderson in the third. Anderson pulled even with Hess in the battle for second on lap six before the first caution of the race slowed the pace. Parker Anderson took second on the restart, while Greg Jose moved in on Hess for third. Following a debris caution on lap eight, Anderson took the lead and brought Hess with him into second. Anderson and Hess remained side-by-side until the midway point when Anderson was building his first lead of the race before another caution erased it. On the ensuing restart, Justin Vogel was now third as he made it a three-car battle for the lead. The top three went three-wide with 12 to go with Vogel leading by a nose with 11 to go The trio went three-wide again the following lap with Anderson and Vogel trading the top spot on a number of occasions past the 10 to go mark. Anderson made contact with the wall coming to the five to go mark as he continued to try and hold off Vogel and Hess. Anderson used a pair of lapped cars with three to go to pull away by a half a second. Vogel cleared the lappers as well, but was unable to pull even with Anderson again as Anderson continued on for the victory. Vogel, Hess, Levi Randt, and Greseth completed the top five. Racing action continues Friday night at the Bullring with an all Sprint show. The Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints return with the NLSA Lightning Sprints, Western Renegade Non-Wing Sprints, and the Superior Customs Red River Sprint Series IMCA Sprints. Results22 entries
