GRAND FORKS, ND September 7, 2013
- For the last 6 years no single driver has won the Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational twice. Well Saturday lightning was about to strike twice for Brad Seng (12s) of Grand Forks, ND.
On the weekend one would come in thinking just about anyone in the a-main field of 25 had a chance of winning the event. Racing 92 laps is a long distance and just about anything is possible in that time span and distance, Especially with a competition red flag period for refueling at lap 32.
Seng started in 4th position, and was patient while looking for a line his car would work well on. At lap 52 Seng had worked on Anthony Diemel (58) from Elk Mound, Wisconsin, and made his move to the lead and did not look back.
Prior to the competition break, the one driver who stood out was Cody Skytland (11s) of Fargo, ND starting 21st and had gained 11 spots on the field before the refueling stop.
The Breakdown on how the A-main was formed:
The field was scored in the heats on passing points and heats were set by draw. The top 20 in passing points at the end of the heats raced in Friday's dash and were locked in for Saturday's a main. With a field of 2 B-mains set with the remaining drivers, and 16 drivers who stayed for the A-Main from the dash, 4 drivers from each B main transferred to tag the rear of the A Main. The Promoter's provisional was awarded to Shane Edginton (5b) of Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada to fill the 25th spot.
Track Officials were heard commenting that Brad Seng was so excited to get this win, Seng was heard celebrating on his way to the tech area before going to Victory Lane. Numerous drivers and fans praised the RCS track crew as the track had multiple lines of racing all weekend, and the drivers who raced provided everyone with a great show.

What more can be said about the Street Stock class other than there was another highly competitive show on Saturday night just like Friday. This race was the final appearance of the Street Stocks for the 2013 season at The Legendary Bullring. It always seems to come down to who wants to win the most, and being in the right place when it counts. Ryan Johnson (25) did just that Saturday, Finishing 2nd in his heat to Mike Anderson (8x) who did not make the call for the A Main, leaving the door wide open for Johnson (25) and others to take the top spot. Saturday, it was Johnson (25) on the outside front row and making it to the checkers, with Friday's winner Ryan Pommerer (5p) taking 2nd place. COMPLETE RESULTS
2 nights sweeps are rare in itself, but somehow Tyler Peterson (1tpo) of Hickson, ND has figured out the recipe. Even with an a-main invert of 3 rows Peterson (1tpo) has managed to come up with some big wins in some pretty big company. Saturday, Rich Pavlicek and Ryan Kakela tried their best to keep the sweep from happening but could only muster a 2nd for Kakela and a 3rd for Pavlicek. Peterson is the 2013 track points champion for River Cities Speedway. COMPLETE RESULTS
It's been written before but worth repeating, When Mark Dobmeier (13) is away, results may vary. Again, this is true to some aspect, as this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that both Dobmeier (13) has not been in attendance, AND Casey Mack (8) wins the A-Main. Saturday's A-main lineup was composed based upon Thursday night's A-Main Finish, by completely inverting the finishing order. Although a few drivers were not in attendance Saturday that were racing Thursday, the race was pretty much a roll of the dice. Mack (8) started in 10th position and had to work his way through the field but got to the front by lap 10 of the 25 lap A-main Wade Nygaard (9n) started 18th and the finish came down to Mack (8), Nygaard (9n), Austin Pierce (2a), Bob Martin (10trb), Chris Ranten (27) COMPLETE RESULTS
