GRAND FORKS, ND (June 25) - The WISSOTA/NLRA Late Models capped off a four-race, four-night tour through the Red River Valley Saturday night at River Cities Speedway. During that stretch, car counts were consistently in the mid-twenties, but attrition throughout the week played a factor on the final night as 19 Late Models were entered into the Greater Grand Forks Fair special event. Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Cars:
27 Sprint Cars were entered into Friday night's double feature event, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings. After trimming the field to the fastest 24, Wade Nygaard and Dusty Zomer led the field to the green for the first 25-lap main event. Mark Dobmeier jumped out to the lead, however, and led the opening lap over fourth place starter, Austin Pierce. Zomer got back by the two-time and defending River Cities Speedway track champion on lap two to regain the second spot and set his sights on Dobmeier. Just as he has been so many other times at RCS, once Dobmeier got out front he was untouchable as he led every lap and parked his Senske & Sons #13 car in RydellCars.com Victory Lane. For the second feature the field was completely inverted, which put Dobmeier and Zomer at the tail of the starting lineup. But the result was still the same. Dobmeier was score 19th on lap one, 13th on lap five, and eighth on lap six, but he still trailed the #82 of Zomer, who grabbed the lead away from Cory Mack on lap 12. Zomer still held the lead in the closing laps, but was tangled up with a lapped car which dashed his hopes of a feature win. Dobmeier wasn't far behind as he took second from Mack on lap 17 and put Zomer in his crosshairs. In the closing laps Zomer held a solid lead, but was tangled up with a lapped car which sent him into the water barrels in turn four and dashed his hopes of a feature win. Dobmeier inherited the lead for the Evergreen Insurance restart and held of Cory and Casey Mack to sweep the night. Lightning Sprints: Dexter Dvergsten picked up the Lightning Sprint feature win. Dvergsten started 7th in the 16-car field and took the lead on lap six. Once out front, he never looked back as he parked his #11 sprinter in RydellCars.com Victory Lane for the second time at RCS. Dvergsten's first win at the bullring came back in 2013. INEX Legends: Shane Williams and Kevin Jensen started on the front row for the 15-car Legends feature. Williams got the jump and took the early lead as Troy Hoff moved into second. Hoff chased Williams until lap eight when he made the pass for the lead. Hoff was only able to set the pace for a handful of laps as the hard charging Donavin Wiest came from sixth to take the point with just two laps to go. Wiest went on to take the win, his first at RCS since 2012. Slingshots: Keagen Houser topped the field of 10 Slingshots. The Grand Forks, ND driver started outside the front row and took the win over Bailey Cousins, Taylor Klein, and Axel Anderson. Dallas Morin won the Slingshot-AS feature race. Morin, from Fargo, was the only driver not from Jamestown in the field and picked up the win over pole sitter, Samuel Bintz, Nolan, Gleason, Cameron Bintz, James Watson, and Cole Babcock. GRAND FORKS, ND (June 10) - On a hot and humid Friday night the high-banked River Cities Speedway was fast and tacky for the night's Premier Racing Series action.
