GRAND FORKS, ND (September 8) - Thursday night at the Prelude to the Johnny, Dustin Strand rewrote the history books by turning the fastest lap in a Late Model ever recorded at River Cities Speedway. On lap seven on heat race number three, Brad Seng broke the track record with a lap of 11.453, but on the next circuit Strand laid down an 11.422 second lap, shattering the previous track record of 11.514 seconds, set by Seng on April 22, 2016. Strand’s speed around the fast, tacky three-tenths bullring was 94.554mph on average. “It feels good, that’s pretty cool,” said Strand of having the track record honor. “Obviously the track wasn’t real condoned to passing, but it widened out for the feature and turned out to be pretty good.” Strand went on to win the NLRA Late Model feature later that evening after starting in seventh. Racing continues at River Cities Speedway on Friday and Saturday night with the running of the 10th annual John Seitz Memorial, presented by Simplot. By Mike Spieker
