GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 29, 2018) – It was a hot, muggy Friday night at River Cities Speedway for Midseason Track Championship for the Street Stocks and Midwest Modifieds. The event was broadcasted live on cable television across the upper Midwest by Midco Sport Network. Both the fans at the track and those tuning in at home were treated to an eventful evening at the Bullring. All of us at River Cities Speedway extend our most sincere condolences to the entire Jason Johnson Racing family.
Johnson was a five-time ASCS National Tour champion and 2016 Knoxville Nationals champion. Johnson's first and only World of Outlaws win in the state of North Dakota came at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo on August 19th, 2017. According to press issued by the World of Outlaws: "During Lap 18 of the Jim Boyd Memorial at Beaver Dam Raceway, Johnson was involved in a crash battling for the lead on the backstretch of the third-mile oval. Emergency crews quickly attended to the situation and transported Johnson via air to Aurora Medical Center, where he later succumbed to the injuries. Johnson, 41, of Eunice, LA, is survived by his wife Bobbi and five-year-old son Jaxx." Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his friends and family. Due to a heavy shot of rain, the races for tonight have been canceled. See you next Friday!
