Mark Dobmeier collects his 105th RCS victory.
By Mike Spieker
GRAND FORKS, ND (July 25) - Mark Dobmeier came from the sixth position to pick up the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association win Friday night at "The Bullring"
Thomas Kennedy and Alex Larson made up the front row of the 25 car, 25 lap feature, but Dobmeier came cruising through the pack and took the lead on lap two. Dobmeier went on to lead the remainder of the event, but had to withstand challenges from Kennedy, who was seeking his first ever RCS win.
Kennedy consistently had faster lap times than Dobmeier, but was never able to find an opening to take the lead. On the lap 15 restart, Kennedy was right on Dobmeier's rear nurf bar as they headed into turn one, but Kennedy wouldn't make it out of the corner. In the middle of the turn, Kennedy's #20K hit a rut, took a bad bounce, and went barrel rolling down the turn two banking. Kennedy was OK, but he was done for the evening.
Once the race resumed, Dobmeier jumped back to the cushion and rode the rim for the final 10 laps and picked up his fourth RCS victory of 2014.
