GRAND FORKS, ND (August 22) - Ward Imrie of Winnipeg, MB picked up the second Wissota Modified feature of 2014, presented by Stuessy Diesel of Alexandria and Allstate Peterbilt of Grand Forks, at River Cities Speedway with his pass over Dustin Strand with two laps to go.
Imrie started outside the front row for the 18 car, 20 lap main event and jumped out to the early lead over polesitter, Aaron Holton. On lap six, Strand rode the cushion around turns one and two cruised by Imrie down the back stretch to take over the point. Strand then took off in his RealTruck.com #71 and built up a full straightaway lead, but the yellow flag was displayed with two remaining and put Imrie right on Strand's rear bumper.
On the restart, Strand drove off into turn one where he bobbled for just a moment which allowed Imrie and Holtan make it a three wide battle for the lead. Holtan won the fight as he thread the needle and went from third to first, but Imrie came back and passed Holtan to lead lap 19. Imrie made one more trip around the 3/10th mile bullring to take the victory as Strand edged out Holtan for the runner up position.
The Wissota Modifieds will be back in action at River Cities Speedway on September 5th during the 8th annual John Seitz Memorial.
