Burrows Get First River Cities Win by 0.012!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 19, 2017) – Adam Burrows picked up the Wells Concrete feature win in dramatic fashion as he came from third to first in the final two laps. ​

After leading the opening laps, Burrows fell back to the fourth position as Steven Richards showed the way. Burrows found his groove after a few circuits and made his way back up to the second spot behind Richards.

Behind Richards and Burrows, Nick Minske and Aaron Blacklance were in a heated battle for the final podium spot. With nine to go, the two had caught the leaders, but made heavy contact with each other in turn one.

An unrelated incident brought out the caution, but Minske and Blacklance retired from the event under yellow. On the Evergreen Insurance restart, 11th place starter Riley Gregoire raced into the second spot and looked to challenge Richards for the lead.

Burrows came storming back, however, moving by Gregoire and closing to the back bumper of Richards on the final lap. Burrows gave Richards a little tap exiting two, which allowed him to pull even with the No. 3 down the back stretch.

Burrows drove his machine deep into turn three as he cleared Richards for the lead, but pushed way up the race track. That allowed Richards to execute a crossover as they drag raced to the line.

Burrows edged out richards by .012 seconds at the Valley Sunrise Properties flagstand for his first career win at River Cities.
