Schill Doubles Up for Second TimeGrand Forks, N.D. (July 1, 2022) - An action packed Mid-Season championship took place Friday night at the Bullring as the NOSA Sprints returned for their first complete night of racing since the season opener. Mark Dobmeier and Austin Pierce split the two Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA features, while Lance Schill and Aaron Blacklance remained on hot streaks. The first feature of the night was the Wayne Anderson Cup feature postponed on June 10th, with Jack Croaker and Brendan Mullen leading the field to the drop of the green. Croaker took the lead, while Mullen, Mark Dobmeier, and Wade Nygaard battled for second as they worked traffic with just five laps complete. Dobmeier avoided disaster, as the trio went three wide in turn four, keeping the No. 13 from sliding off the top of the speedway. Nygaard passed Croaker with a wheelie down the backstretch on lap nine, before the first caution on lap ten. Nygaard continued to lead, as Dobmeier moved into second on the ensuing restart. Dobmeier tracked down Nygaard, taking the lead on lap 18. Dobmeier held off Nygaard after a late restart to collect his first win of the season. Mullen, Jade Hastings, and 14th starting Austin Pierce rounded out the top five. Mullen and Nygaard paced the second feature at the end of the night's proceedings. Mullen led the first four laps, and had just started working traffic when a caution reset the field. Mullen held off Nygaard and Pierce on the next two restarts, but it was the next restart that cost Mullen a shot at the win. Pierce got a good start on the bottom of the track, passing Mullen for the lead. Mullen and Nygaard made contact the following lap, ending Mullen's race after a flip of turn two. Mullen was ok. Pierce himself had to hold off all challengers on three restarts in the last half of the race, continuing on to his first win of the season. Lance Schill and Brody Troftgruben led the Cirrus Aircraft Late Model field to the green of their 20 lap feature. Schill took the point as Joey Pederson and Dustin Strand followed into second and third respectively.
After a pair of yellows just past the halfway point, Brad Seng and Shane Edginton were the next to challenge Pederson for the runner up spot as Schill continued to lead. Schill kept the lead through the final two cautions with five and four to go, scoring his second sweep of Midwest Mod and Late Model features of the season. Pederson, Edginton, Seng, and Ryan Corbett rounded out the top five. In that Happy Harry's Midwest Mod feature Schill and Austin Hunter made up the front row at the start. Schill, who came into the night having gone three-for-four in the class this season, led at the drop of the green. The race came to a halt as a pileup blocked the exit of turn two on lap four, including a rollover for Hunter. All drivers were ok. Nine cars restarted the race, but it was Schill who went unchallenged in the remaining 16 laps, scoring his fourth Midwest Mod win in five tries. Aaron Blacklance and Trey Hess led the Big Al's Construction Street Stocks at the beginning of their 20 lap feature. Blacklance led the first five laps before a debris caution re-stacked the field. Blacklance continued to lead on the restart, as Hess was passed by Weston Ramsrud, then joined by Seth Klostreich and John Halvorson for the final spot on the podium. Hess headed pit side with eight to go, leaving Ramsrud and Klostreich with the second and third spots on the final restart with five to go. Blacklance led the final five laps to score his first Street win of the season, following his Midwest Mod win last Sunday. Ramsrud, Klostreich, Dan McNamee, and James Meagher completed the top five. 410 SPRINTS - WINGED A Feature 1 (25 Laps): 1. 2A-Austin Pierce[3]; 2. 8H-Jade Hastings[6]; 3. 13JT-Mark Dobmeier[4]; 4. 9N-Wade Nygaard[2]; 5. 0-Nick Omdahl[13]; 6. 6N-Greg Nikitenko[7]; 7. 14-Tom Egeland[12]; 8. 26-Blake Egeland[20]; 9. 55-Nick Ranten[5]; 10. 10S-Josh Swangler[10]; 11. 8BALL-Jack Croaker[8]; 12. 99-Jordan Graham[9]; 13. 17-Zach Omdahl[14]; 14.
