GRAND FORKS, ND (July 15) - The Premier Dirt Track Series returns to River Cities Speedway Friday night with WISSOTA Late Models, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association. Friday night is also Family Fun Night, presented by PDQ Sanitation Services and Aaron's Sales & Lease.
As we approach the dog days of summer, the points battles in each of the four classes continue to be among some of the closest in RCS history.
Austin Pierce leads the way in the Sprint Cars, holding a somewhat comfortable 31 point lead over Greg Nikitenko. Drivers in positions two through six (Nikitenko, Casey Mack, Chris Ranten, Wade Nygaard, and Jordan Adams) are separated by just 8 points.
Harwood's Jim Geringer hold a seven point lead over Byrce Reimer in the Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stocks points. Travis Robertson, who has scored four wins at RCS in 2015, sits in third 17 points behind Geringer.
In the Happy Harry's WISSOTA Midwest Modified points, Austin Hunter of Winnipeg brings a six point advantage over Preston Carr into Friday night's event. Matt Schow and Ricky Hamel are eight and 15 points behind Hunter, respectively.
The closest points battle belongs to Dustin Strand and last year's Late Model track champion, Brad Seng. Strand is just two tallies ahead of Seng, while Joey Pederson is seven points behind Strand. Steffen Snare and Mike Balcaen round out the top five in the Late Model standings.
Racing kicks off at 7pm Friday night.
