By Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (May 22) - A stout field of 33 Happy Harry's Bottle Shops WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were signed in to battle at the Bullring Friday night at River Cities Speedway.
A B-main trimmed the field to the fastest 22 for the 18 lap feature. Aaron BlackLance and Tim Berg led the field to the green flag with BlackLance grabbing the hole shot.
On lap two, the race for the lead was a three car fight between Preston Carr, Blacklance and Berg. Carr won the battle while Todd Johnson's #21 entered the fray for second. A caution on lap seven erased Carr's six car length lead. On the ensuing Evergreen Insurance restart, Austin Hunter of Winnipeg, MB dove to the inside of Carr and pulled even with him down the backstretch, but Carr was able to retain the lead. By lap 13, Carr had established a 10 car length lead over Hunter. Both drivers were hooked up on the freshly tilled cushion and were pulling away from the field. Carr cruised to the victory over Hunter, Johnson, Eric Haugland, and the winner of RCS's first two Midwest Mod events, Ricky Hamel.
