Croaker to be One of Four NOSA Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Candidates
By Mike Spieker
GRAND FORKS, ND (April 12) - After averaging 27 Northern Outlaw Sprint Cars in 2014, four new rookies will enter the scene in 2015; the latest one being 22-year-old Jack Croaker of East Grand Forks, MN
Croaker got his start in racing at age seven when his dad bought him a go-kart.
"Once I turned seven, my dad got me my first go-kart and I raced every week in Grand Forks until I was 18," said Croaker. "I decided I wanted to move up to a full sized car, but didn't have the funds at the time. So after five years of not racing, I couldn't stand it and had to get back in the seat. If I was going to race, it was now or never."
The number eight has sentimental value to Croaker, dating back to his grandfather who raced "The 8 Ball" car back when Croaker was growing up. Croaker felt it was the perfect way to honor his grandfather, who passed away a couple years ago.
Croaker's plan in 2015 is to run the entire NOSA schedule.
"Like every rookie, I think Rookie of the Year is a good starting goal," continued Croaker. "I just want to be a driver that people don't consider a 'hazard' and actually have respect for. In the future I hope to make racing a career, but for now I want to keep my sponsors happy so I can continue to race."
The sponsors on Croaker's Flyin' 8 ball consist of:
Norman Funeral Home
Troy Pecka Trucking
Hometown Auto Repair
Area Community Credit Union
Croaker also sends a special thanks to Grant Boyum, his dad, mom, and girlfriend for all of their help and support.
Watch Croaker and the rest of the Northern Outlaw Sprint Cars during River Cities Speedway's season opener on April 24th. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 with racing starting at 7:00.
