Family Fun & Hall of Fame Night Preview, presented by RydellCars.comBy Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (July 21) - After heavy rains forced the cancellation of last week's Premier Racing Series event, River Cities Speedway is set to rock this Friday night with WISSOTA-sanctioned Late Models, Midwest Modifeds, Street Stocks, and the Northern Outlaw Sprint Cars. A big night is in store at the Bullring with it being both Family Fun Night and Hall of Fame Night. The kids will be treated during the intermission with not only a candy toss, but a BMX bike giveaway, scooter giveaway, and more.
A brief ceremony will also commence during intermission to honor the River Cities Speedway Hall of Fame class of 2015. Friday night is also Mid-season Track Championship Night. Feature winners in all four racing divisions will be crowned as the RCS mid-season track champion and will be awarded with a special commemorative trophy. The points races in all four divisions are some of the closest in track history. Austin Pierce leads the way in the Sprint Cars, holding a somewhat comfortable 31 point lead over Greg Nikitenko, while Jim Geringer holds a seven point lead over Bryce Reimer in the Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stocks standings. Travis Robertson, who has scored four wins at RCS in 2015, sits in third 17 points behind Geringer. In the Happy Harry's WISSOTA Midwest Modified points, Austin Hunter of Winnipeg brings a six point advantage over Preston Carr into Friday night's event. Matt Schow and Ricky Hamel are eight and 15 points behind Hunter, respectively. The closest points battle belongs to Dustin Strand and last year's Late Model track champion, Brad Seng. Strand is just two tallies ahead of Seng, while Joey Pederson is seven points behind Strand. Racing, presented by ND Eye Clinic and Home of Economy, kicks off at 7pm.
