Doar Sweeps to Hold Off Seng & Pederson
in Amsoil Race of Champions Qualifier
Wissota Late Model Week in Review
24 cars brought their A-Game and squared off on the 1/3rd mile high banks. Under an overcast sky which later turned to sunny by the heats, The WISSOTA Amsoil Race of champions qualifier was well underway.
The track during the heats started out to be tacky but later turned dry-slick as the sun wind, and horsepower did their thing to get the top to cap over.
Heat 1 was won by Steve Anderson (9) followed by Zach Naastad (z17) who both started on the front row, and 3rd was John Kaanta (85) of Elk Mound, Wisconsin.
Heat 2 was a shuffled deck as Dustin Strand (71s) powered his way from 5th starting spot to win, Troy Schill (11) a close second and James Sangrait (17) for the 3rd.
Heat 3 was almost an invert from the start as Pat Doar (11d) made the long ride from New Richmond, Wisconsin to start 6th in his heat to win. Brad Seng (12s) challenged for 2nd from the 8th position. and 3rd was Mike Balcain (10).
We move to the A-Main and again just like all the other classes that raced there was no disappointment here. Doar (11d) and Anderson (9) on the point Seng (12s) and Naastad (z17) in row 2 and Joey Pederson (7p) in row 6.
The battle was up front with Seng and Pederson swapping turns with Doar in the lead on lap 13 Seng takes an inside pass under Doar for the lead. Not so fast... Doar gets it back 2 laps later, then Pederson takes his shot side by side as Pederson and Seng were positioning but couldn't seal the deal. At the checkers ot was Doar, Seng, Pederson Balcain and Kaanta. COMPLETE RESULTS
