GRAND FORKS, ND (July 24) - It had been nearly an entire month since Mark Dobmeier last visited his home track of River Cities Speedway, but on Friday night he clearly proved that he hasn't missed a beat at the Bullring.

The field of 30 Outlaw Sprint Cars was trimmed to the fastest 24 for the 25 lap A-main with Austin Pierce and Jordan Graham on the front row. Pierce jumped out to the early lead as Dobmeier slipped into second. Dobmeier caught and passed Pierce for the point on lap two and quickly distanced himself from the field.

A series of cautions flew throughout the duration of the event, but on each Evergreen Insurance restart, Dobmeier left the field to battle for second.

As the feature race progressed, little dips and holes began to develop in the high groove along the cushion. While some drivers found this to be problematic, Dobmeier seemed to make it through each corner seamlessly, even in lapped traffic.

When the checkers flew, Dobmeier crossed the line with nearly a three-second margin of victory over current NOSA point leader, Wade Nygaard. Jordan Adams cruised from 14th to third, while Pierce and Cory Mack rounded out the top five.

"I started outside the second row and they left that top open for me right away. I couldn't believe it," said Dobmeier after the race. "I shot out to the lead right away and pretty much hammered that cushion for the rest of the race."

"As the race went on, the cushion got to have more holes in it," Dobmeier continued. "In turns one and two it felt like a whoop section on a motocross track, but if you hauled it in there hard enough you could get through them and still keep your momentum. Overall it was just a fun race."

Brenden Wilde, of Thief River Falls, MN also had an impressive drive; coming from 20th to ninth.
