By Mike Spieker
GRAND FORKS, ND (July 24) - Ricky Hamel and Preston Carr led the field of Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds to the green flag.
Hamel was shuffled back at the get go as Carr and Lance Schill found themselves in a heated battle for the lead. On lap six, Schill dove to the inside of turn three and gave Carr a door, which slowed up both drivers and allowed Hamel to slide on by for the lead. On the following lap, Carr returned the favor and sent Schill sliding off the turn one embankment. The caution flew and Carr was sent to the tail of the field. Schill made a few more competitive laps before he retired his #17s for the evening. Once the race resumed, Hamel was gone. The Lakota, ND driver left the field and parked his #22 in RydellCars.com Victory Lane for the third time this season. Aaron Blacklance came home with a second place finish, followed by Austin Hunter, Scott Vasichek and Eric Haugland.
