WISSOTA Late Model recap, presented by RydellCars.comBy Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (August 8) - A stout field of WISSOTA Late Models was led by Brandon Fuller and Steve Anderson, with Anderson taking the lead at the drop of the green flag. ![]() Meanwhile, Fuller, Mike Balcaen, and Steffen Snare were three wide for second. Balcaen took the position, then passed Anderson for the lead on lap three. Within five laps, Balcaen had opened up a 10 car length lead as perennial powerhouses, Joey Pederson, Dustin Strand, and Brad Seng sliced their way through the pack. Pederson and Strand moved into second and third, respectively, but Strand moved by Pederson two laps later for the runner-up position. The top five began closing in on Balcaen as he entered lapped traffic at the midway point of the race. That's when defending WISSOTA Late Model national champion, Ricky Weiss, maneuvered passed Strand for second. With three laps to go, Balcaen's Northstar Equipment #10 suddenly began to slow. Just as Weiss flew by him for the lead, Balcaen's right rear tire exploded; ending his golden opportunity to pick up the victory. From there, Weiss cruised around the Bullring to take the checkers over Strand, Seng, and Pederson as Anderson rounded out the top five.

Spectacular race! Very nice summary Mike Spieker. Certainly appreciate the calibre of professionalism always present at RCS. This ran fan enjoys the show at RCS each and every week, however, always bushels more enjoyable when, my favourite driver, in my favourite class wins. Thank You!
