River Cities Recap: Dobmeier, Schill, and Blacklance Continue Winning Ways At Celebrate Dirt Event7/9/2022 Hunter Bounces Back From Rollover For Midwest Mod WinGrand Forks, N.D. (July 8, 2022) - It was a night to remember during the Celebrate Dirt event at River Cities Speedway, as Mark Dobmeier, Lance Schill, and Aaron Blacklance continued to rack up victories at the Bullring. Oklahoma's Noah Harris, making his speedway debut, and Thomas Kennedy, making his speedway return for the first time since his opening night win, led the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints to green. Kennedy brought Mullen with him as the lead duo at the start, before Mark Dobmeier replaced Mullen in second on lap five. Following flips by Christopher Thram on lap seven off turn one, and by Zach Omdahl off turn three on lap ten, wrecks that saw the drivers exit unscathed, Kennedy and Dobmeier began a torrid battle for the top spot. Close quarters action that saw Dobmeier wheelie the No. 13 down the backstretch at one point, the pair continued their battle for the win throughout the duration of the race. Dobmeier made the winning pass in lapped traffic in turn two with four laps left, continuing on for his second win of the year. Jade Hastings, Austin Pierce, and Brendan Mullen completed the top five. The Cirrus Aircraft Late Model feature saw Tom Corcoran and Blake Anderson lead the 20 lap feature to green. Lance Schill moved into second on lap two, taking the lead two circuits later. At the halfway point, Schill had built a three second lead over Corcoran and Brody Troftgruben.
Late in the race, seventh starting Dustin Strand made his way up in the order, climbing all the way to second by the checkers, but it was all Schill out front, winning by nearly four seconds in the green-to-checkered affair that went four minutes 49 seconds. Troftgruben, Ryan Corbett, and Corcoran completed the top five. The Northern Renegade Wingless Sprints made their first appearance in Grand Forks of the season, and it was Nick DaRonco and Brandon Palm up front to start the 20 lap feature. DaRonco jumped out to the early lead, with Adam Sobolik moving to the runner-up spot on lap five. A scary tumble for Josh Johnson just before the halfway point brought out the red flag. Johnson was ok. DaRonco continued to be the class of the field on the restart, continuing on to victory over Minnesota Iron Rangers Chris Lewis and Ken Hron, who completed the podium. Rob Caho, Jr. and Lucas Logue were fourth and fifth. Randy Thompson and Austin Hunter paced the Happy Harry's Midwest Mod at the beginning of their 20 lap feature. Hunter, who was coming back from a rollover here last week, took the early lead. Jason Halverson followed Hunter in second, before he was passed by Lance Schill with five laps complete. Schill made it a door-to-door battle for the lead following a couple slowdowns near the midway point of the event, but spun out looking for the lead with nine to go. Hunter never faltered on any of the restarts down the stretch, winning his first feature at the speedway since 2019. Thompson, Jory Berg, Halverson, and Schill were second through fifth. Josh Barker and Greg Jose led the 20 lap Big Al's Construction Street Stock feature to green, with Jose jumping out to the early lead. Trey Hess moved into second and kept pace with Jose in the opening circuits. Jose continued to lead following a pair of cautions on lap seven, with Cole Greseth and Aaron Blacklance moving in on Hess for second. Blacklance's pass for the lead around the highside was negated by a yellow with six remaining. Blacklance used the bottom of the track on the final restart to win his second Street feature in-a-row. Hess, Seth Klostreich, and John Halvorson completed the top five.
