Thomas, Stenberg, and Dykhoff Net First Wins of '22Grand Forks, N.D. (August 6, 2022) - Austin Pierce started from the pole alongside last week's winner Nick Omdahl at the beginning of the 25 lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints feature. Pierce brought Mark Dobmeier with him, as the pair pulled into the top two spots on the initial start. Jade Hastings joined the lead duo following a lap three restart, as Dobmeier challenged for the lead on the top side of the quarter-mile. Restarts on laps five and six saw Pierce change his restart choices from the bottom to the top, as he continued to lead in lapped traffic through the midway point. After another pair of cautions shortly thereafter, Pierce continued to stave off advances by Dobmeier by returning to green on the cushion of the track. Pierce held off Dobmeier by about a car length in traffic to score the win. Brendan Mullen, Hastings, and Wade Nygaard rounded out the top five. Cole Babcock and Jesse Teunis led the Cirrus Aircraft Late Model 20 lap finale to start, with both drivers looking for their first Bullring victories.
Babcock led the opening round, with Teunis taking the spot on a lap two restart. Joey Pederson followed the lead duo in third, entering into a trade of sliders with Babcock for the runner-up spot. Pederson came out the victor in that battle, as he set his sights towards Teunis for the lead, bringing Brad Seng with him into third. Seng snuck into the lead on a lap six restart, as Pederson slipped back behind Teunis and Babcock, falling back to fourth before a caution for Babcock at the halfway mark. This put Pederson back on the first double file restart row, as he and Jason Strand replaced Babcock and Teunis on the podium. Pederson, ripping the cushion on the final restart of the race, took the lead with five laps remaining, winning his second feature of 2022. Seng, Jason Strand, Ryan Corbett, and Lance Schill were second through fifth. Ryan Johnson and Joseph Thomas led the second A-Modified feature at the speedway of the year to green, but Johnson spun on the initial start, moving him to the rear of the field. Thomas led on the restart, with Ward Imrie and Josh Beaulieu following in second and third. Imrie was never more than a couple car lengths back of Thomas as the pair moved into lapped traffic midway through the 20 lapper. Imrie moved to the bottom late in the race as he reeled in Joseph Thomas, while being challenged by Corky Thomas for second. Joseph Thomas would diamond off turns three and four in the final two laps to win his first !-Mod feature at the speedway. Dustin Strand and Aaron Blacklance were fourth and fifth. Scott Bintz and Reise Stenberg paced the Happy Harry's Midwest Mod at the beginning of their 20 lap main event. It was rush hour on the fastest one way street in Grand Forks early on as the lead duo were joined by Tanner Theis, Jory Berg, Rusty Kollman, and Jamie Dietzler in a six-car war for the top spot. Bintz came out of it with the coveted position, as Lance Schill and Matt Schow joined a seven-way battle for second. Stenberg won a three wide fight with Berg and Theis, then began to reel Bintz back in for the lead. At the midway point, Stenberg moved to the inside of Bintz, entering into a door-to-door battle for the lead. Matt Schow followed into second, and made his own bid for the win, before the race's only caution with four to go. Stenberg held off Schow and Berg on the restart, collecting his first win of the year. Dietzler and Kollman were fourth and fifth. Joe Potter and Josh Barker led the 20 lap Big Al's Construction Street Stock feature to green. Potter took the lead at the start, but a three wide battle between Barker, Trey Hess, and Tucker Pederson developed for the second spot. Pederson and Hess took second and third respectively, but John Halvorson was the next driver to put in a bid for a podium spot. Pederson got loose in turn four a couple laps later, giving Halvorson and Hess second and third, while Kyle Dykhoff moved in on Hess for third. From there, Dykhoff moved past Hess on the inside of one and two on lap four, to the outside of Halvorson for second in three and four on lap six, and set his sights on Potter for the top spot. At the midway point, Dykhoff moved to the inside of Potter, taking the lead out of turn four. Dykhoff continued to lead despite a restart with eight to go, continuing on to his first Bullring win of the year. Aaron Blacklance won a three wide battle with Potter and Halvorson on the restart to finish second. Halvorson, Hess, and Seth Klostreich completed the top five.
