Johnson Wins Delaine Memorial
Mullen Scores Anderson Cup Finale

Grand Forks, N.D. (September 10, 2022) - Another jam-packed weekend of action has been completed over the 16th Annual John Seitz Memorial weekend. Among the biggest winners of the weekend were Don Shaw winning his second $9,200-to-win 92 lap finale, Zach Johnson winning the Big Al Delaine Memorial, and Brendan Mullen winning the fourth and final Wayne Anderson Cup feature of the year.

Ryan Corbett and Dustin Strand led the 26 car John Seitz Memorial feature for the Cirrus Aircraft Late Models to green, and despite an opening lap caution, Don Shaw led 22 of the 32 laps run before the scheduled fuel stop.

Josh Skorczewski and Scott Greer made up the remainder of the top three as the race resumed. Shaw remained out front through a pair of cautions in the next ten laps as Shane Edginton moved up to third.

Shaw started working traffic with 45 to go, as fellow former Seitz winners Chad Mahder and AJ Diemel started to make their presence known before a caution with 39 left.

Mahder remained a threat to take the lead through two more cautions in the ensuing laps.

Diemel and Cole Searing, who needed the 'highest finisher from last year's feature not yet qualified' provisional to start 26th, made their ways past Skorczewski into third and fourth respectively, and both had Mahder in their sights for second.

Diemel made it to second two laps later as Shaw continued to work traffic. Pulling even with Shaw coming to the ten to go signal, the field slowed for one final caution.

With clean air, Shaw went on to win his second Seitz Memorial title over Diemel, Searing, Mahder, and Jeffrey Massingill.
Ryan Gierke and Dan Ebert led the third and final A-Mod feature to green, with Ebert taking the point early on in the 30 lapper.

Tyler Peterson started making steady progress around the bottom of the track as the rest of the leaders ran around the top of the quarter-mile.

Peterson erased all of Gierke's lead in lapped traffic at the midway point, as Peterson looked to reverse Thursday's result and get the win over Gierke.

Gierke had issues with ten to go, falling out of the race, allowing Ebert and Dale Ames a shot at the lead on a restart that followed with eight to go.

Peterson had no problems with clear air, however, and went on to victory over Ames, Ebert, Joseph Thomas, and Cayden Schmeling.

The Happy Harry's Midwest Mod finale was marred at the start by a major pileup at the start that included all but six of the 24 starters. All drivers were ok, including Scott Bintz, who was the only one of the 18 to roll.

Lance Schill survived the melee to lead at the start, building a lead of over three seconds by the ten to go mark.

A nearly six second lead for Schill was erased by a caution with three to go, giving Justin Olson and 17th starter Jory Berg with one last shot at the win. Schill went on to win over Berg, Olson, Rusty Kollman, and Aaron Blacklance.

Weston Ramsrud and Thursday winner Kyle Dykhoff brought the Big Al's Construction Street Stocks to green, with Ramsrud leading early.

Ramsrud continued to look good in lapped traffic eight laps into the scheduled 25, holding off Dykhoff through a lap 12 caution.

A pass for the lead was erased by a Tucker Pederson spin that was charged to another driver, giving Pederson his spot back inside the top five.

Ramsrud continued to lead through a trio of cautions that followed, including one that ended top five running Daniel Aberle's bid for the win.

Pederson capitalized on the restart with nine to go, leading through the final trio of cautions with six, then five laps remaining to score his biggest win to date.

Dykhoff followed in second with Justin Vogel, Ramsrud, and Trey Hess completing the top five.

Friday's docket featured the Big Al Delaine Memorial for A-Mods, and the Wayne Anderson Cup finale for the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints, and the 'Go Hard or Go Home' pole dash along with the qualifying heats for the Late Models.

Austin Pierce and Shane Roemeling brought the field to green in the 30 lap finale, but it was Mark Dobmeier making a strong claim for the win early, going from fourth to first in the opening pair of circuits.

Brendan Mullen finally reeled in second place runner Austin Pierce with ten laps left to take the runner-up spot, just before a mechanical failure for fourth running Jade Hastings the following lap.

Chaos followed on the restart as the lead duo made contact on the front stretch, sending Dobmeier into a series of cartwheels in the first turn. Dobmeier was uninjured.

Mullen and Pierce traded sliders late in the race, but it was Mullen winning the feature, and Pierce winning the over Anderson Cup title.

Jordan Adams, 15th starter Blake Egeland, and Tom Egeland were third through fifth.

Dustin Strand and Brandon Pelepetz led the 35 lap Delaine Memorial to the stripe to start, with Strand taking the lead early in the race.

Zach Johnson and Lee Grosz joined strand in the top three before the first caution with seven laps complete. Johnson capitalized on the restart, leading through a pair of lap ten slowdowns.

Tyler Peterson fighting Grosz for third was the best battle in the closing laps of the first half, with Johnson pulling away a bit from the competition.

Johnson was about to have to work traffic with 15 to go, but a caution saved him from having to do so. Grosz moved into second on the restart, but Strand was able to take the spot back with ten to go.

Strand was able to reel in Johnson late in lapped traffic, but ran out of time, as Johnson went on to win the Delaine Memorial. Grosz, Joseph Thomas, and Mike Stearns were third through fifth.

Chad Mahder, Don Shaw, Scott Greer, Jesse Glenz, Ryan Corbett, and Brad Seng won the qualifying heats in Late Model competition, while Corbett went on to cruise to the pole position for Saturday's finale in the 20 lap 'Go Hard or Go Home' pole dash.

The weekend kicked off on Thursday night with the annual running of the 'Prelude to the Johnny,' playing host to the finale of the NLRA Late Model season.

Veterans Brad Seng and Mitch Johnson brought the final NLRA feature of the season to the drop of the green. It took a couple tries to get a green flag stint in the books after an opening lap pileup in turn one, and another spin in turn three on the restart.

Seng led early while Shaw raced Johnson for second. With Seng and Shaw pulling away, Ryan Corbett and Scott Ward challenged Johnson for third.

With the rest of the race going caution free, Seng used lapped traffic to his advantage, locking Shaw in second as Seng went on to win. Cole Searing, Shaw, and Dustin Strand rounded out the top five.
Mike Greseth's sixth place run was more than enough to lock up his second consecutive NLRA series championship.

Tyler Peterson and Zach Johnson went door-to-door throughout the first half of the A-Mod feature, but it was sixth starting Ryan Gierke joining in, making an epic three car battle for the win.

Gierke beat Peterson back to the checkers following a restart with three to go, winning by .057 seconds. Mike Stearns and Joseph Thomas were fourth and fifth.

Jory Berg and Lance Schill resumed their Track Championship battle from six days prior late in the Midwest Mod feature, but it was Berg holding on after a restart with four holding on to win. Dawson Zabel, Taylor Jacobson, and Aaron Blacklance were third through fifth.

Kyle Dykhoff and Tucker Pederson passed early leader Justin Vogel midway through Thursday's Street Stock feature, with Dykhoff winning his second feature here this season by a half second. Andrew Hanson, Vogel, and Daniel Aberle rounded out the top five.
