Seng and Omdahl also winners at Big Motor ManiaGrand Forks, N.D. (July 23, 2022) - The 2nd annual Big Motor Mania brought with it the first appearance for the 2022 season for the WISSOTA A-Modifieds, and it was Tyler Peterson who put on one heck of a show for the fans with his charge from the last half of the field as Nick Omdahl and Brad Seng also scored their first wins of the year. The Advantage RV Mod Tour was the last race out on the night, and it was Rick Delaine and Bob Broking who led 25 cars to green for the 40 lap feature. With bonus cash on the line for starting deeper in the field, Tyler Peterson took what was offered, and started in the 16th position. Delaine took the early lead, and held through a lap four caution. Broking kept second as Jordan Duray ran third. Meanwhile, it took Peterson just five laps to climb into the top ten, and ten circuits to make it into the top five. Delaine had just started working lapped traffic when Preston Carr went for a spill over the top of the backstretch. He exited the No. 5C ok. Delaine continued to lead on the restart, despite going door-to-door with Broking for a number of laps. This allowed the hard charging Peterson to close in on the lead duo. Broking took the lead just before the halfway point, but it was Peterson capitalizing on a lap 21 restart, moving to the top spot. Peterson held off veteran Corky Thomas in lapped traffic in the closing laps to pick up the win. Ward Imrie, Delaine, and Zach Johnson completed the top five. Jack Croaker and Nick Omdahl made up the front row for the 25 lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints main event, but everyone also had their eyes on Oklahoma's Ryan Timms who was making his speedway debut.
Timms, already a five-time NOSA winner a month before his 16th birthday, started third in the race, but a spin on the opening lap caused him to have to fall to the rear of the field. On the restart, Omdahl led Croaker as Mark Dobmeier and Wade Nygaard battled for the final spot on the podium. Dobmeier caught Croaker with ten to go, moving into the runner-up spot, as Timms made a bid to return to the top five. In the closing laps, Omdahl continued on to victory over Dobmeier and Croaker, but Timms made it past Nygaard and Jade Hastings to finish fourth. Lance Schill and Cole Babcock led the Cirrus Aircraft Late Models to green for their 20 lap A Main, and it was Schill jumping out to the early lead, with Joey Pederson following into second. Just before the midway point, sixth starter Brad Seng caught up to the spoiler of Pederson's No. 7P. The final of two cautions with four laps left bunched the top three together for one last battle for the win. Pederson, still running second, picked low for the double file restart, but Seng used the cushion to move past both Pederson and Schill to score his 62nd Late Model win at the speedway. Mike Greseth and Ryan Corbett rounded out the top five.
