GRAND FORKS, ND (May 22) - A full field of 24 WISSOTA Late Models set the grid for their 20 lap main event. James Sangrait Jr. and Bill Mooney lined up on the front row and led the field to the green flag.
At the completion of the opening lap, Mooney, Sangrait, and Ricky Weiss were three wide for the lead. Mooney held on to the top spot over Weiss and came around to lead lap two.
By lap eight, the cream has risen to the top as Joey Pederson and Pat Doar moved into the third and fourth positions and had their sights set on the two leaders.
Weiss erased Mooney's lead at the halfway point and had his nose tucked right behind Mooney's #2M. The defending WISSOTA Late Model national champion, Weiss, dove to the inside of Mooney in turn one and took over the point in heavy lapped traffic.
After that, Weiss ran away with race and took the win. Mooney, Doar, Pederson, and Brad Seng rounded out the top five.
The win was Weiss' 11th at River Cities Cities, which moved him passed Troy Schill to sixth on the RCS all-time Late Model wins list.
