Happy Harry's WISSOTA Midwest Modfied recap, presented by RydellCars.comBy Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (July 31) - The Happy Harry's WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were 22 cars strong for their 18 lap main event Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Aaron Blacklance and Joe Henninger lined up on the front row with Blacklance taking the lead into turn one. On the second lap, Henninger, Ricky Hamel, and Ryan Schroeder went three wide for the second position. Hamel and Schroeder both got by Henninger and continued to battle as they made it three wide for the lead, this time with Blacklance in the mix. Hamel and Schroeder drove by Blacklance as they still remained door to door, with Hamel having the slight advantage.
The yellow flew on lap six and reset the field with Hamel out front. Once the green flag flew, another three wide battle broke out for third with Matt Schow, Preston Carr, and Blacklance. Carr was the big winner of that race as he moved from fifth to third in one lap. Meanwhile up front, Hamel and Schroeder were in a heated fight for the point. They headed into turn three side by side when the made a little contact. Schroeder drove off the low side of turn four and cleared Hamel at the line. Schroeder had a comfortable lead when he came around to take the white flag, but just as he did, the caution came out for a spin in turn one. That put the the Millenium Chassis freight trane of Hamel, Schow, Carr, and Austin Hunter right behind Schroeder for the restart. As the green flag flew once again, Schroeder got a great launch off of turn four in his Lakeside Lock & Key #77R and cruised to the victory.
