Season Points Championship preview, presented by RydellCars.comBy Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, ND (September 2) – Seventeen; that’s the number of scheduled Premier Racing Series events that have led up to Friday night’s season championship, presented by Stamart. Since late April, every driver that has hit the high banks of River Cities Speedway has scratched and clawed to earn every single position out there on the track; and it all comes down to this Friday night. ![]() Grand Forks Late Model driver, Dustin Strand, enters the final points paying event of 2015 with his biggest lead in over two months – five points. If that sounds miniscule, that’s because it is. Especially considering the man right behind him in the standings, Brad Seng, is the track’s defending champion and has a class-leading four victories on the season. This title may not be decided until the final lap of the main event so keep an eye on the #71 and #12S all night long. Matt Schow capitalized on Ricky Hamel’s misfortune last Friday night in the Happy Harry’s Midwest Modified feature to not only take the race win, but the points lead as well. Schow will bring a 15 point advantage over Hamel as he pursues his first-career River Cities track title. Preston Carr and Austin Hunter are tied for third, 22 points behind Schow. Jim Geringer has led the Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stock standings nearly all year, but still only holds an eight point advantage over last week’s winner, Ryan Flaten. It's hard to believe, but Geringer has yet to park his Dakota Engines #12 in RydellCars.com Victory Lane this season. Geringer will strive to change that stat and add another River Cities Speedway championship to his storied resume. Defending track champion, Austin Pierce, holds a 15 point lead over current NOSA point leader, Wade Nygaard. The Sprint Car’s points paying races continue through the season finale on September 18th, but Nygaard has really made things interesting as he’s taken a bite out of Pierce’s lead over the past couple weeks. Friday night's forecast calls for warm, sunny conditions so come on out to the Bullring and enjoy Season Championship night, presented by Stamart. Racing kicks off at 7pm!
