Shaw Goes "Double - Double", Pommerer & Peterson Get Wins

The 7th Annual John Seitz Memorial Night 1 
An Unofficial Record Car Count of 138 Cars Signed in on Friday

Grand Forks, North Dakota September 6, 2013 ~ Hot and humid race nights were reserved usually for August, but in 2013 mother nature has had a mind of her own. With heat indexes near 95 and high humidity, cold beverages with a big dose of great racing were on the menu of the night. An unofficial record car count of 138 cars signed in on Friday with 4 classes on the night's card. 45 Late Models signed in bringing 5 very well stacked heats. The qualifiers for the dash and the first 10 rows of the A-Main were decided by passing points and dash finish. 

Heat 1: Norman Olson (29) and Jeff Wildung (50) drew the front row of this heat, Wildung was off like a missile and didn't look back, Adam Hensel (33x) was 2nd, 3rd Dustin Strand (71s), and 4th John Kaanta (85).


Heat 2: Anthony Diemel (58) was the story of this heat had so far has been near the front all weekend so far, Diemel starting in the 5th position with some stiff competition from Kyle Peterlin (23), and Jake Redetzke (27). 
The Finish: Diemel (58) will win, Redetzke (27) 2nd, 3rd Peterlin (23), and 4th Jeremy Keller (11k).

Heat 3: Brady Smith (2t) arrives in this heat and started in 4th position, Lance Mathees (90) in 8th position and Brett Larson (IOU1) 6th position come in this to gain passing points like they were on a mission. The top 4 going to the dash were: 1) Smith (2t) 2) Larson (IOU1) 3) Mooney (2) and 4) Mathees (90).

Heat 4: Don Shaw (42s) draws the pole in this heat as Tom Corcoran (T1) in 3rd starting position and Zach Johnson (73) in 7th starting position. Shaw jumps out to a fairly comfortable meanwhile all the action was in the battle for 2nd & 3rd place with Scott Greer (5G), Johnson (73), Corcoran (T1), and Pat Doar (11d) mixing it up across the span of the heat. The last 6 laps had Corcoran (T1) up to 2nd, until Z. Johnson (73) reclaimed the spot with 2 to go. 
The transfers to the dash were: 1) Shaw (42), 2) Z. Johnson (73), 3) Corcoran (T1), 4) Doar (11d). 

Heat 5: This heat was more of a local "who's who". with the exception of Mike Nutzmann (2m) Jeff Provinzino (28) of Hibbing, MN. Provinzino has been making the rounds and entered several WoO Late Model events and having a top 10 finish. Friday, things were a little different. Cody Skytland (11s) makes a re-appearance at The Legendary Bullring als as Skytland started his racing career at River Cities Speedway. Brad Seng (12s) Started in 4th position, and Joey Pederson (7p) in the back in 9th position. Transfers to the dash: 1) Seng (12s), 2) Provinzino (28), 3) Skytland (11s),
4) Pederson (7p).

For the dash, the top 20 drivers in passing points made the dash. The rest go to one of 2 Saturday's B-Mains. The winner receives a check for $920.00 for the win and the starting positions for the A-main are determined by order of finish. 3 drivers from each B-Main will tag the rear of the 92 lap A-main.

"Go Hard or Go Home" dash: The re-draw brought up the top 8 in passing points from the heats, and positioned them in the front 4 rows of the dash only 1 driver finished in the top 6 from outside of the re-draw. Joey Pederson (7p) was that driver and he finished 6th. COMPLETE RESULTS        

Wissota Modified

When you are on a roll there is little doubt about luck. It shows more skill and talent to be able to do double duty in a late model and a Modified. Don Shaw (42s) had his hands full, just like in the Lates, some real tough company were there to win. Shaw (42s) saw his challenges and overcame them from the start on the pole, and went flag to flag to won the Wissota Modified A-Main others in the top 5 were: 2) Jeremy Nelson (4), 3) Cody Skytland (75j), 4) Ward Imrie (10w), and 5), Blake Jegtvig (2j). Heat Winners: heat 1: 51 Josh Thoeness (51), heat 2: Blake Jegtvig (2j) heat 3: Michael Greseth (17g) heat 4: Cody Skytland (75j).
In heat 1, Rick Jacobson (7j) slid off turns 1 & 2, and rolled his Wissota Modified 2 times over, He was ok and went on to start the A-Main.  COMPLETE RESULTS  

Midwest Modified

25 Midwest mods showed up to do battle at the Legendary Bullring and again in the Midwest Modifieds it was all about who was on a roll. 
Tyler Peterson completed the sweep Friday night to once again put 
the 1TPO car in Victory Lane. Heat Winners were Timothy Berg (B4) Peterson (1TPO) Brennon Weight (28) and Cole Haugland (10c). B main winner was Lance Schill (17s) coming to the front from the 13th starting position. COMPLETE RESULTS 


The Midwest Modifieds will be in action supporting Saturday's finale of The 7th Annual Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational. 

Street Stock

Ryan Pommerer from Oriska, ND scored hid 9th career A-main friday at The Legendary bullring. Pommerer started 3rd in the A main after a 2nd in his heat. and putting his car in Victory lane after fending off challenges from some of the other 25 drivers in the field.

Heat winners were: Mike Anderson (8x), Ryan Flaten (50) and Jesse Pederson (80)  COMPLETE RESULTS 

The Street Stocks will be in action supporting Saturday's finale of The 7th Annual Seitz Memorial Late Model Invitational.
