Team EventsThe UND Formula SAE team has been participating in various events in the Grand Forks area this fall. Early in the school year members of the 2016-2017 team took the 2016 car out to River Cities Speedway to show it off. Many race fans were interested in our project and had many questions! This was a very fun event for both our members and the World Famous Legendary Bullring River Cities Speedway race fans. With the dirt track season coming to an end with winter on its way, we plan on having the 2017 car at River Cities in the spring to unveil it to the community and race fans! The UND FSAE team also brought the 2016 car to the 11th annual Rydell car & bike show. This charity event supported the Backpack program which is put on by Northlands Rescue Mission this year and was a ton of fun. The team was present talking about the car with many of the car show goers. With a great relationship with Rydell, we hope to be present at many events at the dealership for years to come! Upcoming Events The FSAE team will be participating in the UND Homecoming parade on October 15th. This is done in conjunction with Rydell Cars. The Rydell tow truck will be carrying the 2016 car as well as team members. Formula Lincoln 2016SuccessThe Formula SAE competition in Lincoln, NE was a blast for this years team. Technical inspection went relatively well for our team, with only a few minor hang ups. With that, we were able to utilize all of our allotted runs for each of the dynamic events, helping them to get the best times possible in each event. The team successfully competed in and finished all of the dynamic and static events at competi- tion which resulted in an over- all finish of 38th out of the 80 teams that entered the com- petition from around the U.S. and World. This was helped by the team finishing 14th in the Cost Presentation and 24th in the Business case presenta- tion during the 4 days at com- petition. One of the biggest goals of the 2015-2016 car team was to have a car that made it through all the dynamic events without any major issues, and they did just that! We were one of the 20 teams that finished the Endurance race, of the 80 teams that came to competition. Unfortunately the cumulative endurance time was just a little too slow to qualify for full points, which in the end, hurt the overall ranking of the team. In a whole, the team had a great time at competi- tion, and the underclassman learned some key design changes to consider when moving forward with the 2016 -2017 car build. We have high hopes for FSAE Lincoln 2017, and are aiming to get inside the Top 30. -Brandon Vannelli (Outreach Coordinator / Suspension Team Lead) 2016-2017 UND FORMULA SAE RACE TEAM– ON THE MOVE!The 2016-2017 team is off to a great start! We have more students participating on the team than ever in team history, so we are very excited to see what this year brings! Our goal is to get more students involved to improve the rate of the cars advancement for years to come. With more students understanding how the team operates and functions, it will allow for seamless year to year transitions. The team is currently on schedule, and has just sent out their chassis CAD file to be laser profiled and cut, this week. The goal is to have a rolling chassis by team everyone heads home for winter break. Student Involvement
