GRAND FORKS, ND (August 27) – The highly anticipated return of the WISSOTA Modifieds is set for this Friday, August 28th. After three very successful events in 2014 that averaged nearly 25 cars, River Cities Speedway welcomes the A-Mods back to the Bullring. ![]()
Hometown hero, Dustin Strand, Ward Imrie, and Jeremy Nelson all visited RydellCars.com Victory Lane during last year’s Modified specials. If Strand can pull off another win on Friday night, he will tie Nolan Olmstead as the winningest Modified driver in RCS history.
Also on the grid for Friday night are the Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stocks, where Jim Geringer holds a 14 and 15 point lead over Travis Robertson and Ryan Flaten, respectively. Both Robertson and Flaten have wins at RCS this year, while Geringer has been close, but is still seeking his first triumph of the season. Ricky Hamel of Lakota, ND holds a 13 point advantage over Matt Schow. Winnipeg’s Austin Hunter is still within striking distance, sitting just 13 points back of Hamel. In the Outlaw Sprint Car division defending track champ, Austin Pierce, has a relatively comfortable 27 point lead over six-time NOSA champion, Wade Nygaard. Nygaard has two RCS victories on the season to Pierce’s one. The closest points battle continues to be in the Late Models between a pair of Grand Forks drivers. Dustin Strand has a slim three point lead over Brad Seng, while former track champ, Joey Pederson, sits just 18 points behind Strand in third. Seng leads the trio with four victories; two more than Strand. Pederson picked up his lone win back on May 15th. Racing commences Friday night at 7pm and is presented by RydellCars.com and Evergreen Insurance.
