Kinser wins at Junction - Pittman Sets New Track Record
Schatz 3rd in main, and WoOSTP Points Race Tightens

Grand Forks, ND (8/14/2013) McCool Junction Speedway in Nebraska narrowly escaped a rain out Tuesday as some teams took advantage of this week to regroup their teams, cars, and engine supplies with Tim Kaeding (83) off, and David Gravel (6) under the weather, it was a crime of opportunity for drivers like Justin Henderson (1d), Brad Sweet (49), Daryn Pittman (9) and Steve Kinser (11) to step it up a notch.

The night started with a 30 minute delay for final track prep and it was fast! 17 drivers shattered the old Junction Speedway track record of 13.872 seconds by Sammy Swindell (1)  on Aug. 14, 2012 with Daryl Pittman (9) clocking in at a 13.586 seconds. This was the 3rd time the World of Outlaws STP Sprint cars have appeared at McCool Junction.

Steve Kinser and Kerry Madsen seemed to be the dominant pair through the heats and dash with Craig Dollansky picking up a heat win. In the dash it was Madsen (29) and S. Kinser (11) and Schatz (15) finishing in order to fill the top 3 starting spots in the A- Main.

The Bad Boy Buggies Maxim #11 of Kinser lead the main comfortably until lap 20 when Aussie Madsen (29) reeled him in and on lap 25 but Kinser (11) hooked up and regained the lead on the back straight. Madsen (29) made a last lap charge on lap 29 but couldn't get by Kinser at the line.

“It was a pretty tough last four laps, I saw Kerry underneath me a few time and smartly drove it up into the cushion and let him get a run on me,” said Kinser, of Bloomington, Ind. “When he slid up he tried to get back down, but I had enough momentum to get back around him. I haven’t had a chance to start on the front very often. These cars are so evil and so fast, if you get a good draw, you have to take advantage of it.”

The runner up Madsen (29) has created an improved beginning to the second half of the race schedule.

“I sat behind him after I got by Justin, I’m faster than him and I’m fitter than him and I just thought it was going to happen and it didn’t,” said Madsen, of St. Marys, N.S.W., Australia and driver of the Keneric Racing car. “I had a real strong night and it should be a strong kick off for the second half of the season. I don’t feel like I made any mistake tonight and we had a strong race car, it just didn't happen for us tonight.”

The battle continues in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Points Championship standings as Schatz continues to narrow the gap finishing three spots ahead of Pittman in tonight’s event. Schatz is now 67 points behind Pittman as the two drivers battle it out for every point. Complete Results
